What Our Clients Says

My house manager, Joe, told me “I can’t get sober for you dude. This is your journey… I’m just here to help you find your way”. Joe would quickly become a mentor and friend, offering much needed advice about everything from work to women. I made many friends that year, some who are still close to me today. I thought I would be giving up my free will… instead, I was learning how to reclaim it.

The Reality of Sober Living

Teras is located two miles away from Tharros (both Tharros and Teras are in Lexington MA). This less structured residence is designed to support clients when they have 25+ hours of work or other outside structure weekly, which can be developed with assistance from our team, in the first 30 days. Teras, also located in Lexington MA, offers a less structured, but still supportive model of high standards sober living. After deciding that I was fully capable of maintaining my own sobriety without someone else “controlling my life”, I decided against a sobriety house, and chose to move in with friends from my treatment center instead.

To begin with, a person choosing to fight their addiction to become sober and drug-free needs a strong desire and serious determination to get clean. If they have not realized that they have a true problem, you may need to have an intervention. The path to recovery from drug or alcohol addiction is never quite the same for any two individuals. When looking into rehabilitation and recovery programs for yourself or for a loved one, you will recognize some common steps.

Recovery is about changing the way we engage in life, looking at what’s important to us, and taking action to build a life we want to live without substances. Stopping your coping mechanisms (drinking/drugs) and taking no further action isn’t likely going to give you much recovery. At Harbor House Review, you can expect to meet other male residents who are committed to their sobriety, have completed some form of primary treatment, and pass regular unannounced breathalyzer and urine tests. Our community offers extensive structure, much of which is optional.
