This request for expression of interest follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared on the African Development Bank Group’s Internet Website(www.afdb.org) 16th August, 2018.
International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is implementing the TAAT Clearinghouse, financed through a grant from the African Development Bank towards the cost of the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) Program and intends to apply part of the proceeds for this grant to facilitate payment for a consultant-TAAT MEL Assistant for IITA Office Nairobi Kenya.
The Consultant is expected to assist in handling the implementation of an automated MEL ICT-based platform; Provide assistance with regards to M&E data collection, entering, cleaning and analysis relative to the automated MEL system; Periodically revise the performance monitoring plan with regards to baseline values, targets, milestones and timelines; Assist with preparation of periodic and annual progress reports; Participate in monitoring visits to project sites for ground truthing to assess the progress and current status of field work; Maintain the online database that will serve as a repository for program M&E activities, documents, data, reports and related records; and files and essential contacts in the countries across Compacts; Performs related duties as assigned.
The desired consultant should possess a University degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Agriculture or related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience using ICT based platform; Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required; must be thorough and detail‐oriented within a big‐picture, vision‐oriented framework; Willingness to travel as and when necessary; Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken in English; Knowledge in electronic devices (tablets and computer) programming Excellent computer skills including proficiency with MEL ICT platform, Analytical software such as Q-GIS, SPSS, STATA, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic mail, and web-based tools; Be familiar with and have excellent mobile app proficiency for field data collection such as Open Data Kit (ODK), ONA. The successful consultant should be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‐paced environment; Familiar with the African work environment; Applicants who are resident in Kenya are eligible. Non-resident can also apply provided they will be ready to accept payments in local currency and local conditions of engagement.
IITA now invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested individual consultant must provide comprehensive curriculum vitae information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services including a description of similar assignments done and experience in similar conditions.
A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the Bank’s October 2015 edition of the Bank’s Procurement Policy framework 1.The assignment shall be for a duration of one year in the first instance is expected to start on 1st December 2019.
