Introduction

The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people. Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 190 projects in 123 countries and has committed USD 10 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts. The GCF’s diverse workforce is advancing its mission from its headquarters in South Korea. Our talented staff makes unique contributions to the Fund, enriching the institution through their combined expertise and professional commitment.

Internship Assignment  

This internship aims to offer post-graduate students or recent graduates a meaningful learning experience by supplementing their knowledge with real-world interventions. The Intern will support – with concurrent mentoring – the Compensation and Benefits (C&B) Unit in practical administration of staff benefits and entitlements. . The Intern will be trained and mentored in records management techniques, archiving systems, records retention protocols and recruitment process. Learning areas, inter alia, include the following:

  • Research on market trends and practices of international organisations in the area of total rewards encompassing compensation, benefits, talent management and wellbeing
  • Development, review and classification of jobs
  • Maintenance of compensation data and relevant documents in the HR Information System (Interact)
  • Support, where needed, in the recruitment process inclusive of candidate reviews and collecting data for compensation analysis
  • Coordination with other HR Business Partners in collecting updated and accurate information during payroll cycles
  • Perform other functions, as may be appropriate under the conditions of the internship.

 

Requirements and qualifications* 

  1. Enrolled and pursuing last year of Master’s program (or recently graduated) in ​Human Resources, Economics, Statistics, International Business, MBA,​ or related fields;
  1. Good understanding and experience in Human Resources and operations of international organizations is an added advantage;
  1. Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access;
  1. Excellent writing and presentation skills;
  1. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.

*The person assessed by the Selection Panel as most suitable for the position will be proposed for appointment. The above criteria should be seen as indicators of the experience and skills that would qualify candidates for consideration. Selection among short-listed candidates will also take into account performance at interview, appropriate testing, and references.
