We appreciate your interest in serving as a CorpsAfrica Exchange Volunteer in another country. Having served as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, you are already an important part of CorpsAfrica’s history. As we have well-established offices in Morocco, Senegal, Malawi, Rwanda, Ghana, and Kenya, as well as inaugural programs running in The Gambia, Uganda, and Ethiopia, we are thrilled to send Volunteers who have already served in their own country to serve in another country. The other Volunteers in your cohort will help you learn about their culture and language. Since you’ve already been through CorpsAfrica service, you can help them understand their role as CorpsAfrica Volunteers – including training, site immersion, project implementation, impact evaluation, and more.
Going to serve in a new country is an exciting and challenging experience for you. Please know that all of us at CorpsAfrica will do everything we can to support you. Your success is our success. This exchange experience provides a powerful opportunity to promote understanding and solidarity between African nations – and it begins with you! Please let us know if you have any questions.
All Exchange Volunteers must undergo a medical exam to ensure you can physically serve in another country. Final candidates for the Exchange Volunteer program will begin virtual language classes with Language and Cultural Facilitators in April and will be required to pass a language exam before departing for the new country. Also, we will share language books and resources for the primary language in the country you will serve including direct, virtual support from a Language and Cultural Facilitator. We will require you to have acquired basic proficiency before departing for your new country program. More intensive language training will occur when you arrive in the country (at least a month before the start of PST).
