Job Description:

Major responsibilities

Project Design, Planning and implementation. 

  • Facilitate to conduct different trainings on child protection that will be held in project intervention areas in collaboration with technical authorities from relevant services.
  • Orient and accompany trained groups in their initiatives related to child protection, youth empowerment and livelihood,
  • Support the development and implementation of joint action plans (with different structures) for disaster risk prevention, violence against Children and emergency management within the Refugee camps and host communities.
    • Facilitate the implementation and monitoring of the project activities in the allocated areas
    • In collaboration with CP, and GBV prevention and advocacy (CP&A) groups, conduct community gatherings and public awareness around Child Protection issues and services that impact well-being of vulnerable children
    • Report any child protection issue to the relevant authority in convenience with child protection protocol
    • Ensure disability inclusion is respected at all level and document beneficiaries with disaggregation by gender, PLWD, IDPs or Returnees.

Partnership and networking

  • Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders in implementation at the communal and provincial level.
  • Participate and represent WVB in key external engagements and technical working forums at provincial and communal when applicable
  • Point of contact for consultation on issues to do with child protection programs
  • Identify opportunities that present through networks and relationships with other institutions and organizations and NGOs working in the areas of Child Protection, youth empowerment and livelihoods
  • Work closely with other project staff to facilitate local level advocacy.

Research, M&E and Documentation

  • Effectively document all information related to project successes, innovations and promising practices and disseminate through appropriate mechanisms
  • Identify research areas, conduct research and document learnings
  • Responsible for capturing child wellbeing indicators related to child protection in the project targeted areas
  • Support processes of annual outcome monitoring, midline and final evaluation of Ejo Heza project
  • Regular submission of weekly and monthly plans, record and update weekly and monthly activity monitoring data to support evidence based monthly report.

Project management

  • Continually monitor all expenditures of Child protection and livehood interventions
  • Submit timely information on budgets and financial reports,
  • Assure strict budget management and adherence to activity timelines to ensure proper accountability to WV and donors and effective project implementation
  • Adhere to all WVB policies on procurement and financial management and report early to Supervisor as soon as any issue arises that may impact on the adherence to these policies
  • Produce timely, accurate, compliant and quality reports to the direct administrative supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Qualifications: Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Social Sciences, Community development, Psychology, Law, or Human Rights related sciences
  • Relevant experience of at least 2 years in Child protection programming with local or international NGO
  • Good understanding of Child Protection and livelihood concepts and related issues especially in Burundi
  • Working knowledge of the logical framework approach to project design, monitoring and evaluation/ project cycle management
  • Working knowledge of most popular Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in research, analysis and report writing
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with a passion for sharing knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
  • Fluent in Kirundi, French and English. Speaking Kiswahili is an advantage
  • Must be a committed Christian who is able to stand above denominational and cultural diversity challenges;
  • Must be able to provide spiritual leadership within but not limited to chapel and daily devotions;
  • Able to ride a motorbyke with a valid driving licence.
  • Must have outstanding oral and written communications and relationship skills
  • Must be willing to perform other duties as required.

Working Environment:

  • Work environment:  Field-based with frequent travel to project areas
  • Travel:  10% Domestic travel is required.
  • On call:  At times
