Job Description :

Activity :

  • Devise a capacity development strategy aligned with project objectives of strengthening the technical and organizational capacity of local organizations ;
  • Support project objective of increasing managerial skills of Ministry of Health and local stakeholders for efficient and effective implementation of SBC malaria interventions at all levels of the health system ;
  • Support project objective of increasing capacity of Ministry of Health and local stakeholders to generate and use SBC malaria data to inform service delivery  ;
  • Lead the Project’s capacity development team in developing or adapting tools and approaches to assess organizations’ institutional capacity, develop risk mitigation plans and design, implement, and evaluate capacity development plans ;
  • Lead the development and management of the project’s relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations and private sector to share learning, capacity development cases, and innovations ;
  • Coordinate closely and regularly with the Chief of Party and stakeholders to ensure that capacity development interventions are in line with project goals and budget ;
  • Provide technical support for capacity development of select local organizations and systems strengthening ;
  • Design, implement, and monitor institutional capacity development interventions ;
  • Lead the implementation of systematic, competency-based assessments of institutional SBC capacity as a means of informing the design of activities and measuring their impact ;
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as Project needs evolve.

 

Knowledge and Qualifications for the role :

  • Expertise and experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring institutional capacity development interventions ;
  • A minimum of five years of experience in assessing the organizational and technical capacity of local entities and in developing tailored capacity action plans and implementing capacity-building interventions is highly desirable ;
  • Strong project and personnel management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders ;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with national, district, and community authorities, the USG, other donors, and other implementing partners ;
  • Experience working in Mozambique or in similar contexts is highly desirable ;
  • Experience in transitioning activities from international to local partners is also highly desirable; and
  • Strong written and oral English and Portuguese skills ;
  • Master’s degree in public health, business administration, social sciences, or other relevant discipline, with specific emphasis on systems strengthening and/or institutional development ;
