Job Description :

#MAJOR_RESPONSIBILITES :

Project Design, Planning and implementation  :

  • Ensure that the Project activities are in strictly line with the designed documents for the sector and national office strategy ;
  • Work closely with the Education and ;
  • models that meet quality standards ;
  • Participate in activities of the Cluster/AP related to education projects being implemented by partners ;
  • Initiate and participate in education sector Advocacy initiatives ;
  • Facilitate mainstreaming of cross cutting themes (gender, advocacy, child protection, faith and development, disability, environment) in the Project ;
  • Work with volunteers and partners to ensure vulnerable Children and their households are intentionally participating and benefiting from the Project.

Capacity building and training :

  • Ensure that the mobilization of SMCs and Reseaux scolaires to build capacities on education and hygiene ;
  • Supervise thatmentoring and coaching to Reseaux Scolaires, staff, and other volunteers; local level capacity and local linkages to support education activities ;
  • Identify technical experts to train community groups involved in children Education and adolescents ;
  • Liaise with the National Office Education Technical Manager on staff capacity building in relevant field like Education in Emergencies, Conflict Sensitive Education.

Partnership and networking :

  • Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders in implementation at the communal and provincial level ;
  • Participate and represent WVB in key donor engagements and technical working forums at provincial and communal, regional and National level when applicable ;
  • Point of contact for consultation on issues to do with Cluster education program ;
  • Identify opportunities that present through networks and relationships with other institutions and organizations and NGOs working in the areas of education ;
  • Work closely with Education department staff to facilitate local level advocacy.

Research, M&E and Documentation :

  • Effectively document all information related to project successes, innovations and promising practices and disseminate through appropriate mechanisms ;
  • Identify research areas, conduct research and document learnings ;
  • Responsible for capturing child wellbeing indicators literacy, numeracy and life skills in project working Areas ;
  • Support processes of project baselines and evaluation ;
  • Regular record and update monthly activity monitoring data to support evidence based monthly report.

Project management and coordination  :

  • Track financial management and budgets allocated for the project ;
  • Continually monitor all expenditures of the project ;
  • Submit timely information on budgets and financial reports, and be prepared to explain budget variances for the Grant project ;
  • Assure strict budget management and adherence to activity timelines to ensure proper accountability to WV and donors and effective project implementation ;
  • Adhere to all WVB and donor policies on procurement and financial management and report early to Supervisor as soon as any issue arises that may impact on the adherence to these policies ;
  • Produce timely, accurate, compliant and quality reports to the direct technical and administrative supervisors ;
  • Ensure the integration of cross cutting themes and empowered world views (gender, advocacy, community behavior change, cc and child protection,) in projects implementation.

Resource Acquisition :

  • Identify projects ideas for viable funding proposals for resource acquisition to support project interventions ;
  • Participate in resource mobilization through concept papers/proposal writing for fund raising and market them with support offices and other donors ;
  • Contribute to feed into the pool of proposals ready for review and submission to donors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Qualifications: Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Pedagogy, Social Sciences or other degree with a diploma in education ;
  • Post graduate education training is an added advantage ;
  • He/ She must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in implementation of Education program/project implementation and at least 2 years’ experience in education project coordination ;
  • Fluent in Kirundi, French and English ;
  • The holder of this position must have a minimum understanding of education programming in Burundi ;
  • He/ She must have both an extensive conceptual understanding of and demonstrated practical command for implementing project design, management and evaluation principals:
  • In-depth knowledge of community development ;
  • Report writing skills and computer knowledge ;
  • The holder of this position must be a results orientated leader who can manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands;
  • He /she must also have solid public relations skills and be a strong team player ;
  • Must be a committed Christian who is able to stand above denominational and cultural diversity challenges ;
  • Must be able to provide spiritual leadership within but not limited to chapel and daily devotions ;
  • Must have outstanding oral and written communications and relationship skills and ;
  • Must be willing to perform other duties as required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT :

  • 90% Domestic/international travel is required ;
  • On call: 10%.
