Project Assistant I – Hygiene & Sanitation ( 2 positions ; One based in Burtinle and One based in Garowe).

To provide continuous promotion of hygiene and sanitation standards through campaigns, meetings and community sensitization and mobilization.

 

Main Responsibilities :

  • Supervise and monitor hygiene activities ;
  • Ensure hygiene education and campaigns are conducted among the targeted community members ;
  • Train communities on personal hygiene education through PHAST methodology ;
  • Responsible for community education on clean household water acquisition, transportation and storage ;
  • Conduct training to communities on solid waste management ;
  • Develop and manage beneficiary lists for distribution of sanitation materials ensuring equitable distribution within the project areas ;
  • Promote gender balance in water management committees in the community ;
  • Adopt lessons learnt and best practices in hygiene promotion to promote positive change and decision making ;
  • Prepare weekly work plans and liaise with stake holders in conducting periodic assessment and baseline surveys.

 

Minimum Qualifications :

  • A Diploma in public health, community development, water, hygiene & sanitation or any other related field ;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study will have an added advantage ;
  • Should demonstrate experience in community led total sanitation (CLTS,) child hygiene and sanitation transformation (CHAST) and Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Methodology (PHAST) tools ;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in project implementation preferably a Community development / health or / WASH Project ;
  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, good communication skills both verbal and written ;
  • A team player and willing to travel to remote locations ;
  • Proficiency in using computer software like MS office.
