WFP recruits a Logistics Business Support Assistant (Vehicle Tracking-Bag Marking), SC4 Mogadishu ( Somalia)

The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for relief, emergency school feeding, nutrition and food assistance for assets creation through provision of in-kind and cash-based transfers.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Under the direct supervision of the National Logistics Officer and the overall supervision of the Area Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties :

  • Provide support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries ;
  • Coordinate the Logistics Vehicle Tracking operations in Mogadishu and work closely with the storekeepers ;
  • Participate in planning phase of the monthly dispatches and ensure that all truck transporting WFP Somalia commodities are equipped with functional, fully charged and active Vehicle Tracking devices ;
  • Maintain proper asset management records of the Vehicle Tracking devices ;
  • Ensure the Vehicle Tracking devices are always functional, fully charged and ready to be set up on trucks ;
  • Actively monitor that the Vehicle Tracking data is accurately included in the Waybills ;
  • Monitor the trucks transporting WFP lifesaving cargo, analyses the routes and movements making sure there are no delays, irregularities or diversions ;
  • Take immediate action, communication with the Logistics Operations Team, the transporter and the drivers in case of any irregularities ;
  • Closely follow up with transporter to ensure vehicle tracking devices are timely returned ;
  • Participate in monthly transporter performance evaluation with regards to the implementation of the Vehicle Tracking operations ;
  • Ensure full harmonization of project activities and standards by identifying gaps and providing the necessary solutions ;
  • Ensure that every bag or carton moving out of the warehouse is coded while properly coordinating with various transporters involved in the loading and dispatch operations ;
  • Provide support to the logistics operation and activities as required at the warehouse ensuring the effective delivery of food activities as required ;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned .

Minimum Qualifications :

 

Education :

 

Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certification in logistics is an added advantage.

 

Experience :Three years of progressively responsible support experience in logistics operations and at least one year in the field of Vehicle Tracking and or real-time systems management and ICT experience.

 

Language :Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a requirement.
 

Knowledge and skills :

 

Sound knowledge and use of real-time online tracking systems;

Demonstrated ability to work with different teams;

Demonstrated ability to monitor, analyze data and prepare reports;

Previous experience in emergencies is desirable;

Hands on experience in UN administrative regulations and policies in the area of work is a plus.
