Context :
The position is to be filled as soon as possible and is initially limited to one year due to a maternity/parental leave substitution. Employment location will be Harare, Zimbabwe.
As Head of Programmes, you will work on the development of the multiannual country programme Zimbabwe under the supervision of the Country Director and contribute to its implementation and monitoring in order to maximise Welthungerhilfe’s impact on the basis of Welthungerhilfe’s strategy and quality standards. In addition, you will represent Welthungerhilfe in the country in agreement with the Country Director.
Your responsibilities :
- Support the Country Director in the development of the country programme and annual planning as well as ensuring the impact ;
- Identify, examine and assess (pre-select) new project ideas on the basis of the country programme and intervention strategy as well as the concept papers and orientation framework ;
- Define intervention areas with support of Heads of Projects / Area Managers ;
- Provide support / organise field assessments and evaluations for proposal development ;
- Identify co-financing opportunities and negotiate with donors in agreement with the Country Director and Head Office ;
- Ensure compliance with Welthungerhilfe’s quality standards and that reporting occurs correctly and in due time ;
- Monitor the evaluation of possible crises through early warning indicators ;
- Support the preparation of a preparedness and contingency plans as well as the elaboration of a DRR-Plan ;
- Write proposals and reports for donor submissions ;
- Represent Welthungerhilfe vis-á-vis other national and international, governmental and non-governmental bodies as well as relief and development organisations.
Your profile :
- A postgraduate qualification in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Agri-business or a related field ;
- A minimum of 7 years professional experience in a similar position within an international NGO along Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus ;
- Sound experience in project management and coordination of complex field activities, including staff management ;
- Experience in working closely with multiple stakeholders ;
- Strong report-writing skills and experience in reporting frequently to a donor and co-ordinating with other projects commonly funded under a wider donor strategy ;
- Prior exposure to successfully introducing innovative ways of working, digitalisation and new business models ;
- Broad intercultural competence ;
- Ability to cope in a tropical climate ;
- Ability to cooperate and work in a team ;
- Excellent spoken and written English and German.
