Get to know the role :

Virgin Australia’s Regional Engineering team are seeking a Perth based Fleet Technical Engineer to carry out day-to-day oversight of Technical Services / Fleet Engineering.  As the Fleet Technical Engineer, you will play an integral role in the implementation of appropriate and proactive measures to enhance aircraft reliability and availability. We are sourcing individuals with highly developed leadership, collaboration and organisational skills who have demonstrated success and talent in a similar leadership position. This is a pivotal role, at the forefront of facilitating safe, efficient and cost-effective aircraft engineering and maintenance solutions to Virgin Australia’s immediate and future aircraft maintenance needs.

Duties of this role include, but are not limited to :

• Manage the Technical Services team through the continuous Health Monitoring of VARA fleet to increase operational reliability and availability in accordance with the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation Exposition ;
• Evaluate, synthesise and critically analyse strategic and operational focus areas, make informed decisions and proactively drive the development and delivery of practical and outcome-based solution ;
• Prioritise predictive and preventative maintenance activities on a daily basis ;
• Maximise the technical performance of aircraft fleets in the face of competing corporate priorities and initiatives ;
• Provide troubleshooting and support to maintenance providers including on-site support where warranted ;
• Identify and initiate process improvements and change to identified opportunities ;
• Maintain a working knowledge of Part 42 and Part 145 regulations.

You will have a keen strategic focus imperative to continuous improvement and reliability; possess a good sense of organisation and planning, coupled with strong communication skills when influencing and negotiating with key stakeholders autonomously.

Additionally, to be successful in this role you will require :

• Aircraft Licensed Engineer Category B1; A320, F100 or alternatively tertiary qualified in Engineering ;
• 5 years’ relevant work experience with at least 2 years in a similar or suitable position supervising technical services teams ;
• Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance processes and reliability analysis functions ;

• A high level of personal integrity, self-awareness and resilience when managing challenges ;

• Demonstrated advanced computer and data analysis skills.
