Get to know the role :

As a Velocity Data Services Engineer, the position will be working closely with the Manager, Data Platforms with the responsibility for helping to build the data-driven decision-making culture throughout the organization

The role requires effective relationship management across numerous internal and external stakeholders and service providers, ensuring alignment across various business drivers and objectives.

• Working on high impact projects that improve data availability and quality, and provide reliable access to data for the rest of the business ;
• Design, architect and support new and existing data and ETL pipelines and recommend improvements and modifications ;
• Creating optimal data pipeline architecture and systems ;
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Be responsible for ingesting data into our data lake and providing frameworks and services for operating on that data ;
• Be responsible for implementing Master Data Management processes ;
• Analyse, debug and correct issues with data pipelines ;
• Work with cloud ops to build and optimise the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS technologies ;
• Stakeholder engagement (Business Project sponsors and SMEs, Domain / Enterprise architect, Technology Delivery teams).

 Who you are :

Your proven experience using AWS Data technologies along with practical experience with Open Source Data tools will be highly regarded in this role. This background teamed with superior communication skills will ensure you build and manage effective stakeholder relationships enabling the successful delivery of data initiatives

What you’ll need:

To be successful in this role you will have :

• Proven experience in Design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets ;
• Experience working with AWS Big Data Technologies like Glue, DMS, EC2, SQS, SNS, RDS, Cache and complex ETL pipelines ;
• Experience working with Open Source Big Data tools (Parquet, Spark, Hadoop, Presto) ;
• Experience in working and delivering end-to-end projects independently ;
• Minimum 6 months of experience in architecting large-scale data solutions, performing architectural assessments, crafting architectural options and analysis, finalizing preferred solution alternative working with IT and Business stakeholders ;
• 6 months of hands-on experience designing and implementing data ingestion solutions on AWS using AWS native services or with 3rd party tools ;
• 6 months of hands-on experience architecting and designing data lakes on AWS cloud serving analytics and BI application integrations ;
• Minimum 6 months of experience in designing and optimizing data models on AWS cloud using AWS data stores such as Redshift, RDS ;
• Minimum 6 months of experience integrating AWS data services for building secure data solutions ;
• Minimum 6 months of architecting and implementing metadata management on AWS.
