About the role :

An exciting role for a two-year fixed term based in our Melbourne Head Office in Tullamarine reporting directly to the Head of Safety and Security. The position is responsible for the successful development of systems and processes to support the integration of Work Health and Safety and other functions to the Virgin Australia Group.

You will use your strong prioritisation and organisation skills to ensure compliance with relevant WHS legislation and reporting.

The Safety Projects Specialist will conduct other projects and initiatives to enhance the Safety Management System.

Other key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Oversee the implementation of Virgin Group Health and Safety procedures for Tigerair network ;
• Preparation of WHS Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and associated information for risk committees ;
• Development of WHS processes and procedures, to ensure alignment with the Virgin Group ;
• Development of a Service Level Agreement ;
• Develop project schedules for the implementation of projects and initiatives across the Safety and Security department ;
• Conduct workshops with stakeholders to ensure adequate change management ;
• Prepare for and conduct Project Update Meetings ;
• Conduct risk assessments ;
• Maintain working knowledge of current relevant Federal/State regulations and legislation ;
• Maintain awareness of Operational issues/trends and make sound recommendations for future prevention of non-compliance .

About you:

Crucial to the success of this role will be the ability to quickly build strong and lasting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. In addition to this:

• Experience in a similar role, particularly in an aviation or similar environment will make you stand out for this role ;
• Self-motivated, passionate about Safety, proven ability to communicate effectively to positively influence stakeholders about safety ;
• Proof that you are an innovator, can investigate and analyse a problem/issue and pre-empt problems before they come to that stage ;
• Thorough understanding of workplace health & safety regulations & environment, codes of practice and standards as well as best practice processes, theories and methodologies to back up your recommendations ;
• Demonstrated experience and success in delivering projects across diverse stakeholder groups ;
• A diploma in WHS or higher along with investigation training/qualification ;
• Demonstrated ability in the interpretation of legislative or other specified requirements to produce practical operational processes and procedures ; and

• Maintain working knowledge of current relevant Federal/State regulations and legislation.
