About  WFP :

WFP’s Global Strategic Plan 2017–2021 aligns WFP with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and Goals (SDGs). It focuses on ending hunger and contributing to a revitalized global partnership to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Further extensive consultation with the Government and other development partners in Egypt during the second half of 2017 to allow informing and formulating the WFP Egypt Country Strategic Plan for the next 5 years until mid-2023 in line with Egypt’s development priorities, the WFP Egypt Country Office has started implementing the Country Strategic Plan (CSP). The focus of the CSP remains on support to school meals and nutrition support for Pregnant and Lactating Women as integrated part of the national social protection scheme, food assistance for assets and resilience-promotion for smallholder farmers and support to vulnerable Syrian refugees and migrants. To sustain those planned interventions, WFP will be conducting joint monitoring activities with Government representatives of key line Ministries to enforce the concepts of participation, transparency and accountability to its partners. In addition, capacity development activities will be provided to national counterparts and cooperating partners to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability and raising their capacity to conduct monitoring at the local level.

Job purpose :

To contribute to the development of new and existing partnerships organizations to advocate the work of WFP and raise and mobilize resources to support WFP programmes.

Organizational context :

These jobs are found Country Offices (COs). Job holders in the field report to Country Director. Job holders operate with minimal supervision. They are heavily involved in day–to-day activities and analytical work.

Key accountabilities (not all-inclusive) :

  • Manage and implement the assigned work plan and operational activities to maintain and develop partnerships with donors to maximize resources raised for the Country Strategic Plan (CSP)
  • Coordinate work with other partnership officers to ensure the flow of information and other WFP units to align activities with the implementation of the CSP.
  • Manage portfolio of partnerships, soliciting contributions, providing donor stewardship and analyzing results to maximize resources raised for WFP in line with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Identify and recommend fundraising opportunities and resourcing issues; monitor grants and forecasts; prepare funding proposals to mobilize resources in partnership with the different partners.
  • Manage the negotiations for contributions and partnership agreements, in line with internal policies and external regulations, to reach advantageous outcomes for WFP
  • Ensure regular assessment and enhancement to the procedures and the practices that contribute to the effectiveness of the donors’ relationship

Additional Accountabilities :

  • Conduct prospect research, carry out targeted market research and develop donors mapping, ensure regular updates to identify prospect donors.
  • Manage and monitor a variety of correspondence and documentation to ensure appropriate prioritization, routing, and that established deadlines are met and review documents and materials.
  • Collate data and prepare accurate and timely reporting on donors and programmes for senior management to enable informed decision-making and action planning by senior stakeholders in developing new strategies to maintain and increase funding from traditional and non-traditional donors
  • Prepare and provide inputs for briefing documents, proposals, presentations, and concept notes to senior level management meetings with donors.
  • Provide regular information to educate new and potential donors on the strategy, design, relevancy and impact of programme to advocate the work of WFP
  • Provide a full range of support services including follow-up actions, resolution of issues and unforeseen situations, for the effective functioning of resource mobilization
  • Represent WFP at local and international meetings and fora at appropriate levels, sharing information that raises awareness of partnerships strategy and objectives and builds support for WFP activities.
  • Perform other duties as requested that support and contribute to the country office strategic objective

Standard minimum qualifications :

Education:

Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, Marketing Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Language:

Fluency (level C) in Arabic & English language.

Experience:

At least 5 years of working experience in the relative business streams of partnerships, donor relations, fund raising, etc
