How can you make a difference?
Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative, and the direct supervision of the Chief of Programme Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and in close coordination with the PME team and programme sections. For the External version of the COAR, the consultant will work closely with the Communication section to write and edit the UCO 2019 Country Office Annual Report (COAR) to ensure readability and ensure the text are within the word limits and that the report is prepared in the correct template and format as per the global guideline for preparation of COAR, Prepare the UCO External Report, Support the PME section with the editing of donor reports that are due in November 2019.
Background :
UNICEF Uganda Country Office (UCO) is preparing the 2019 annual report based on the implementation of the fourth year of the 2016-2020 Government of Uganda/UNICEF Country Programme. The annual report will analyze key interventions and the results achieved for children in 2019; specify the partnerships created; define what has worked and how we can build on them in the next Country Programme and; identify the bottlenecks that need to be addressed to optimize the results. In addition, UCO will prepare a 2019 External version of the Annual Report and support the office in key donor reports that are due in November.
The office requires the expertise of a professional writer with extensive experience in editing Country Office Annual Reports (COARs) and other related documents. The Consultant will write and edit the annual report (which will accompany the Results Assessment Module (RAM)) and 2019 External version of the Annual Report. This editorial expertise is needed to better demonstrate and show case the quality of the results achieved and better highlight the successes of 2019 for UCO.
Key Tasks :
- Prepare and submit 1st draft of COAR by 29 November 2019 ;
- Support the editing of donor reports that are due in November 2019 ;
- Prepare and submit 2nd draft annual COAR by 6 December 2019 ;
- Prepare and submit 3rd draft annual COAR by 13 December 2019 ;
- Prepare and submit final annual COAR by 8 January 2020 ;
- Submit a draft text of the UCO External Report (21 January 2020) ;
- Submit a draft of the edited and designed External Report (10 February 2020) ;
- Submit the final edited and designed External Report (19 February 2020).
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Qualifications – Masters or Advanced Degree ;
- Employment experience – Five (5) years progressively responsible professional work experience at international level in editorial work ;
- Excellent writing skills required in English ;
- Consultant is able to confirm his/her availability to work in Uganda for during the period 10th November to 13th December 2019 and thereafter remotely as required for the duration of the.
Application Procedure/Call for Proposals :
Interested candidates are required to submit a technical proposal on how they intend to approach the work. The proposal should include a timeline, and methodology, based on the Terms of Reference. The proposal must also include detailed CV of the consultant, relevant samples of related past work, as well as a financial proposal, clearly indicating daily rate for professional fees. The financial proposal must be all-inclusive of all costs (consultancy fees and where applicable air fares, airport transfers, daily living expenses). This is an international level consultancy and competitive market rates should apply.
Evaluation of Candidate :
The consultant will be competitively selected from a list of applicants based on their past experience of doing similar work (extensive experience in writing donor reports, in compiling and editing annual reports for various UNICEF offices).
