Responsibilities :

  • Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System program and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of employee responsibilities regarding safety ;
  • Marshall departing and arriving aircraft ;
  • Load and unload aircraft ;
  • Secure cargo and baggage ;
  • Sort cargo and deliver cargo to and from the aircraft ;
  • Deicing of aircraft ;
  • Provide all other necessary ground support services for aircraft arrivals and departures ;
  • Operate Canadian North ground support equipment and vehicles as required and perform any routine and/or preventative maintenance in order to maintain equipment in good working order ;
  • When required, assist with boarding/deplaning of passengers ;
  • When required, assist with processing of passengers and passenger ticket sales by using a computerized reservations and check-in system ;
  • When required, assist with the processing of cargo shipments, including the sale of cargo products, completing and reconciling all required shipment paperwork and collecting payment ;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Proven ability to provide high quality customer service at all times ;
  • Driver’s license required – must be able to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP) ;
  • Clean criminal record is required – no exceptions ;
  • Available to work irregular hours including weekends and statutory holidays (hours may include usual business hours, early mornings, late evenings) ;
  • Fluency in English ;
  • Ability to lift up to 34 kg / 75 lb on a continuous basis is required ;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment is required ;
  • Hard working, reliable, responsible, dedicated and safety oriented ;
  • Able and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions ;
  • Mechanically inclined is considered an asset ;
  • Computer skills are considered an asset.

Training :

All Station Attendants will be trained to Canadian North standards as outlined in the Ramp Services Manual, including but not limited to :

  • All safety practices and procedures ;
  • Dangerous Goods-WHMIS ;
  • Ramp Handling of deHavilland Dash 8 aircraft ;
  • Personal Protective Equipment ;
  • Deicing ;
  • Canadian North Inc ;
