Plan International seeks a dynamic leader and project strategist to fill the role of Construction Engineer for the USAID funded Marawi Response Project to be based in Iligan City.
The Construction Engineer is responsible for managing construction activities and provide day-to-day overall management and supervision of construction work under the project, ensuring the achievement of targets within specified quality and project timelines.
Responsibilities :
- Responsible for the management of small infrastructure projects ;
- Ensure timely implementation of programme activities, overseeing and managing contractors ;
- Coordinate with the Procurement Team to ensure timely procurement of materials of specified and agreed quality with the donors ;
- Monitors project progress and the contractor’s performance ;
- Ensure timely reporting to the Deputy Cheif of Party and team as required.
Qualifications :
In order to succeed in a challenging and varied role, applicants must have extensive experience in the following areas :
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning or any related course ;
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in supervising infrastructure projects, especially school or health facility projects ;
- Knowledge of building codes and standards in the Philippines required ;
- Experience in drawing or revising building plans required ;
- Strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, in English, Tagalog & Maranao (preferable) ;
- Computer literate and able to produce high-quality reports and communications ;
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the Philippines. Local applicants are preferred.
