Plan International is will implement a project entitled, Moving Urban Poor Communities towards Resilience (MOVE UP) Phase 4. This is an urban disaster risk reduction project implemented by a consortium of international NGOs. The project aims to improve the disaster risk reduction and management in the target areas via the use of Alternative Temporary Shelter (ATS), resilient livelihoods and risk transfer modalities. This phase will be implemented in select municipalities in Iligan and Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, Philippines.

In this regard, Plan International Philippines invites highly competent, experienced and committed professionals to fill the following position:

Project coordinator :

The Project Coordinator leads the overall coordination of situational analysis, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning of the grant-funded projectMoving Urban Poor Communities Towards Resilience (Move Up) Project 4.   He/She ensure adherence to donor requirements and processes are aligned to Plan’s Child Centered Community Development Approach and integration with other Plan programs, and complies corporate mandates. This project is for 18 months.

Key responsabilities :

  • Lead the crafting of the project design that supports female, male; boys and girls involvement in Urban Disaster Resilience activities especially on the disaster preparedness and risk mitigation, humanitarian response, climate change adaptation efforts at the household, community and local level ;
  • Allocate needed resources based on approved project proposal to facilitate project implementation in the project area ;
  • Monitor project implementation and budget utilization based on the agreed detailed implementation plan ;
  • Develops strategic alliances and effective networking with other key players/stakeholders and support agencies in the municipality/province/region and establishes collaborative partnerships between Plan and relevant institutions ;
  • Facilitate involvement of local partners in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities at the municipal, provincial, and regional level ;
  • Ensure proper documentation of the project ;
  • This role will have four direct reports.

Qualifications :

  • University Graduate Degree in Coastal Resource Management, Disaster Risk Management, Social Sciences, Community Development, Urban Planning/ Programming or related courses ;
  • Masters degree on similar courses is an advantage ;
  • Preferably has had training on Community Organizing/ Community Development ; Program/ Project Management; Participatory Rapid/ Rural Appraisal; Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR); Climate Change Adaptation (CCA); and, People Management ;
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in project management, preferably on DRR or CCA related projects. Supervisory experience is an advantage ;
  • Has exposure and has knowledge on education in emergencies EiE), safe school campaigns and managing and implementing disaster recovery, rehabilitation and risk reduction program advocacies ;
  • Applicants must have a right to work in the Philippines. Local applicants preferred .
