The Organisation :

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity :

Plan International is implementing a new global strategy with the aim that 100 Million Girls Learn, Lead, Decide and Thrive. Against this backdrop, we are working to transform how we operate so that we can deliver better outcomes for girls. This includes a range of organisational change projects and an increased focus on effective implementation.

As Planning and Implementation Manager you will have an important role in making that effective implementation happen. You will ensure that the Leadership Team has visibility of the progress that is being made in key areas, and identify where there is a need for discussion, decision or action in order to keep implementation on track. You will work with colleagues that lead and manage projects in our Global Hub, and lead a structured annual planning process that keeps us focused on our strategic aims

The Individual :

We are looking for someone who has exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and communication skills, combined with strategy and analytical ability.

You will need demonstrable experience of working with and influencing stakeholders at senior managerial levels. And you’ll be adept at  influencing outside direct line-management relationships in order to achieve results. While you won’t be directly managing projects or involved in the detail of the work, you’ll need to be able to build relationships with the people who are.

You will have significant  experience of project, programme or portfolio management of complex initiatives and  knowledge and competence in identifying risks, issues and constraints, together with how to mitigate them

As an international child centred community development organisation, Plan International is fully committed to promoting the realisation of children’s rights including their right to protection from violence and abuse. That means we have particular responsibilities to children that we come into contact with.

Plan International believes that in a world where children face so many threats of harm, it is our duty to ensure that we, as an organisation, do everything we can to keep children safe. We must not contribute in any way to harming or placing children at risk.
