Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located within the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA), Mission Support Centre (MSC) in Bangui. The Senior Logistics Officer reports to the Deputy Director of Mission Support (DDMS).
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Senior Logistics Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
• Coordinates logistics support for new and ongoing operations
• Develops, prepares, coordinates and monitors overall logistic support plans including logistics forecasting, supply schedules, priorities or requirements, and resolution of urgent operational needs.
• Monitors and coordinates all multifunctional logistic requirements between UN HQ and other field missions.
• Assists in development of policy and procedures for field logistics support.
• Acts as the principal liaison between the mission and Headquarters staff for logistics matters and co-ordinates day to day support of logistics operations.
Acts as primary interface between Mission Support Division and mission components with respective to resource prioritisation.
• Advises on all issues related to COE management and verification and is member of CMMRB.
• Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
• Advises senior management on logistics management, structures and staffing levels to ensure that they are at all times adequate to meet the requirements of the mission’s logistics strategy.
• Organises and chairs logistics meetings, makes presentations.
• Performs other related duties as required.In the role of a Chief, Integrated Support Services or Chief, Technical Services the Senior Logistics Operations Officer also:
•Manages and supervises an integrated civilian-military mission support organisation.
•Manages and coordinates a multifunctional logistics operation in the field.
•Chairs or is a member of field mission administrative and financial bodies.
•Assumes responsibilities of a certifying officer.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, engineering, law or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in land or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organisations, or related area. Understanding of military operations in field deployments is considered a benefit.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by an informal interview.
