The Salary package for this role is £78,612- £86,568 per annum* including basic salary, cost of living allowance and hardship allowance.

About the Chad programme:
Following nearly 30 years of conflict, large areas of Chad remain affected by mines and the explosive remnants of war. MAG has worked in Chad from 2006 to 2013, aiming to improve the living conditions of communities affected by these items, so they can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. We returned to Chad in late 2014 and re-opened our programme, working to improve the management of arms and ammunition alongside our Humanitarian Mine Action work.
The programme has recently began a new 4-year project working in both the Lake and Tibesti Region.
About the role:
We are seeking a Technical Operations Manager (TOM) in Chad to lead a range of activities including mine clearance, EOD and Arms Management and Destruction (AMD) projects. As the senior technical representative in country, you will be responsible for planning, leading and safely managing humanitarian and commercial mine clearance. AMD and EOD operations. You will hold a recognisable EOD qualification and have extensive experience of implementing clearance operations in challenging environments. Working closely with and reporting to the Country Director, you will be accountable for scaling-up the operation, providing high quality technical input into proposals, ensuring smooth operations and generating quality data for reports. You will be the technical lead with donors and government agencies. As a member of the Programme Senior Management Team you will demonstrate your experience of working strategically and ensuring efficient high output clearance work. You will manage multiple Multi-Task Teams of national and international staff, ensuring they plan for, organise and keep teams well-motivated and performing, working with the framework of MAG’s vision and values.
About you:
You must be qualified and experienced in demining / EOD operations, holding a recognised EOD 3 / MINEX 3 qualification with previous experience working for a similar organisation, either in the humanitarian or commercial sector. Previous experience of planning and implementing efficient AMD activities in challenging environments would also be advantageous. Previous experience of working in a senior technical position within a similar organisation is essential. You will have excellent people and project management skills with the ability to coordinate, design, manage and report on activities simultaneously. This is a demanding yet highly rewarding position that will be suited to a highly motivated, solution-focused and flexible manager.
You must have a fluent professional working knowledge of French, with English being beneficial.
The teams in Chad are often based in remote areas, working in challenging contexts away from home comforts, you will need to be able to live and work in extremely challenging environments, where your skills and MAG’s work is needed most.
