The Public Partnerships Division (PPD) works to strengthen UNICEF’s position as a partner of choice for children’s rights among governments and public actors around the world. Along with the Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP), PPD advocates for sustainable partnerships and mobilize flexible and predictable resources to achieve UNICEF’s Strategic Plan results in the context of Agenda 2030.

 

How can you make a difference?

As an integral part of the Financial Management, Business Analytics and Operations team, Senior Finance Associate (Business Analysis and Quality Assurance) is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager (Business Analysis and Systems) with the funding pipeline management

and quality assurance function by driving upstream process efficiency change, working on in-house process automation, deriving productivity improvements, eliminating showstoppers and system or transaction failures as well as ensuring the successful system and process implementations between the various stakeholders.

 

Key functions, accountabilities, and related tasks:

 1. Funding Pipeline Management Policy and Guidance:

• Support Finance Manager in the preparation and regular update of:

Mapping the funding pipeline and grant creation requests management workflow.

Drafting standard operating procedures.

Conducting periodic reviews of the contributions work processes and recommending adjustments to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the process in close collaboration with PFP, DFAM and GSSC.

2. Quality assurance of PPD’s funding pipeline management:

  •  As Subject Matter Expert (SME), is responsible to support the PPD teams with driving upstream process efficiency change, working on inhouse process automation, deriving productivity improvements, troubleshooting, and eliminating showstoppers and transaction failures.
  • The SME supports Finance Manager through:
    • Managing system user behavioral change including system adoption.
    • Collaborating with PPD teams to learn business requirements and work with the project team to meet project milestones, supporting project implementations.
    • Leading/participating in business solutions that bring upstream value.
    • Providing recommendations for procedural improvements.
    • Sharing knowledge and engaging stakeholders.
    • Identifying areas where technical solutions would improve business performance and increase internal efficiencies.
    • Identifying innovative solutions to improve efficiency.
    • Creating reports to support decision making.
    • Investigating issues and bottlenecks and proposing suitable solutions for implementation.
    • Proactively coordinating with the PPD teams, providing solutions and responding to their needs.
    • Collaborating with the project team to prepare test cases and execute them.
    • Coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT), consolidating the feedback and communicating to the project team.
    • Creating and monitoring system usage and communicating insights to the leadership to support the decision making.

3. Act as PPD’s contributions in-kind Focal point:

  • • Act as a focal in PPD for all Contributions in-kind issues, including policies, SOPs, and reporting.
  • • Provide technical guidance to PPD Clusters, including information on the process, forms and contacts in Supply Division and DFAM, to help PPD Cluster process Contributions in-kind.

4. Monitor funding management KPIs and trends across PPD teams:

  •  Develop and update summaries, reports, including dashboards, to monitor key funding management KPIs across all PPD Clusters, including:
    • Comparison of throughput for different donors, PPD clusters; donor growth (year-over-year) trends by donor and cluster
    • Serve as focal point for GSS and DFAM Contributions Unit in supporting GSSC and DFAM in monitoring unapplied receipts and coordinating timely follow up and actions with PPD clusters identifying trends and issues for review by the Finance Manager.

Education:

Completion of Secondary education (high school degree) is required. University level courses in the field of in the fields of financial management and analysis and business analytics from a reputable institute or qualified accountancy from an internationally recognized accountancy body is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in finance in the fields of financial management and analysis and business analytics is required. A completed university degree from an accredited institution will be counted toward the minimum work experience requirements. i.e. in the form of one year of completed education being equivalent to one year of relevant work experience (for fully completed degrees only)
  • Experience and knowledge of corporate ERPS (Enterprise Resource Planning), IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards), and Salesforce CRM software is required.
  • Demonstrated contribution to the delivery of process improvements with realizable benefits.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to develop reports using Power BI or other data tools. Knowledge of and experience in system automation and automation tools.
  • Experience in a UN system agency, large private or public company, or working in a developing country and/or humanitarian/ emergency context is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and spoken) required.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish), or local language of the duty station, is considered an asset.
