The “CCAC Flagship Coordinator” will provide full-time support for implementation of existing and preparation of future CCAC Flagship Programmes/Campaigns. This involves ensuring coordination across the entire CCAC partnership, plus internal coordination within the Secretariat.
The consultant will ensure information sharing between the many countries and organisations engaged and interested to support delivery of the Flagship(s), and to ensure progress on related CCAC-funded projects.
Specifically in 2023 the consultant will coordinate delivery of the CCAC Methane Flagship, including running the CCAC Methane Roadmap Action Programme webinar series, plus various related activities as set out in the CCAC 2023 Work Plan & Budget.
Work Location
Paris, France (or remote, with monthly/frequent travel to Paris at consultant’s own cost)

Duties and Responsibilities
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society.
The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Secretariat at the Economy Division in Paris.

The CCAC 2030 Strategy introduced the possibility of “Flagship Programmes/Campaigns” to maximize the Coalition’s impact for specific periods to give particular impetus to one or several CCAC Engagement Strategies and outcomes, and mobilise the Coalition’s engagement across global and regional leadership, national action and policy support, as well as through communications. The CCAC currently has one Flagship (the CCAC Methane Flagship, launched in November 2021 at COP26), with other possibilities in the pipeline (such as one focused on Clean Air to launch in 2024).
Specific responsibilities:
- Coordinate, track and report on progress on CCAC Methane Flagship, in line with approved document and related component under the CCAC Work Plan & Budget
- Run the CCAC Methane Roadmap Action Programme webinar series (to support the development and implementation of transparent and consistent National Methane Action Plans)
- Maintain the CCAC’s template for ‘national methane roadmaps,’ track progress on CCAC projects to support Roadmaps in countries and advise CCAC National Consultants
- Ensure regular sharing of information and response to enquiries with the US, European Commission/EEAS, and the Global Methane Hub (as a CCAC donor, and in close coordination with CCAC Secretariat colleagues working on governance and resource mobilisation)
- Coordinate with the CCAC SAP (including on the annual GMP status report, and the methane ambition gap report)
- Ensure the GMP Tracker has updated country focal points, and information on country needs and progress
- Support communication activities on methane, and ensure that scientific information on methane on the CCAC website is up-to-date
- Support CCAC regional engagement activities related to the GMP
- Plan for and support organization of the GMP annual ministerial meeting
- Ad hoc support as part of the CCAC Secretariat team
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree in climate change science or policy, or a related field, is required
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience is required
- Project management experience is required
- Knowledge of air quality, climate change or sustainable development issues is required
- Some experience in the UN system organizations and/or a developing country is desirable
Languages
– Fluency in English (written and oral) is required
– Additional knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset
