Context :
The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, education and services at local, national and international levels. 900 people from 80 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions.
The Biostatistics Unit of Swiss TPH is seeking to appoint a : Research Assistant
to contribute to projects on disease modelling and mapping.
Your responsibilities include :
- Bibliometric searches on disease-related data ;
- Data extraction, geo-referencing and entry on a user-friendly database ;
- Data management and basic statistical analyses.
You should have the following experiences and skills in :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in disciplines related to public health, biology, statistics or information systems ;
- Knowledge of at least one statistical package, preferably R ;
- Excellent oral and written knowledge of English is paramount ;
- Familiarity with SQL databases and Geographic Information Systems software would be an advantage.
The position is available immediately for two years with a possibility of extension.
