The Fleet & Workshop Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management of WFP’s fleet and workshops in CAR, ensuring optimal asset utilization, maintenance, and operational efficiency. This role combines fleet management and workshop expertise to support timely deliveries, high vehicle availability, and cost-effective operations in challenging field conditions.
The Fleet & Workshop Manager will be responsible for the overall management and oversight of all fleet, spare parts stores, and workshops in CAR, in accordance with WFP procedures, SOPs, and Fleet Manual guidelines.
Under the direct supervision of the immediate supervisor, the Fleet & Workshop Manager will:
- Manage and monitor the performance, repair, and maintenance of trucks, light vehicles, and generators to achieve maximum utilization and reliability.
- Oversee all workshop hubs, including central and satellite workshops, ensuring efficient operations and timely technical support to sub-offices.
- Directly manage WFP staff, workshop managers, drivers, and mechanics, ensuring punctuality, efficiency, and adherence to job descriptions.
- Ensure efficient spare parts store management for trucks, light vehicles, and generators, maintaining accurate records and minimizing dead stock.
- Prepare and submit requisitions for spare parts, tires, and materials, ensuring timely approval and procurement.
- Manage POL (Petroleum, Oil & Lubricants) supply, ensuring quality and quantity standards are met.
- Implement and maintain the Fleet Management System (FleetWave) and GPS tracking for vehicles.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet required standards, minimizing downtime and maintaining quality workshop management.
- Monitor operational trends and adjust resources to match requirements.
- Implement best practices and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for fleet and workshop operations.
- Ensure compliance with administrative requirements, including contract and insurance renewals.
- Maintain minimum health and safety standards and consider environmental needs.
- Collect and communicate data for standardization and development of fleet management.
- Build capacity of national staff through training and knowledge sharing.
- Archive all workshop activities and spare parts transactions transparently in FMS and hard copy.
- Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.
