Duties and Responsibilites

Under the direct supervision of the team leader of the inventory management team, the position will provide commodity accounting (CA) technical support and serve as the backstop of issues related to CA. The position will work with other team members to maintain accurate and timely commodity accounting inputs to the operation:

  •     Maintain regular oversight for Commodity Accounting data quality and integrity, processes, and procedures implementation through correspondence and direct missions. Take corrective actions on systematic irregularities.
  •     Lead the solution to medium and high complexity commodity accounting challenges and serve as the technical reference for the topic.
  •     Ensure data captured in the system is accurate and liabilities and assets are accounted for at any given point in time.
  •     Ensure that transactions are performed according to the standard business processes and corporate guidelines.
  •     Ensure best use of new tools, material and guidance and provide prompt feedback to the RB/ HQ of any issues faced.
  •     Ensure Physical Inventories are carried out on a monthly at each storage location, reconciled and captured in the system before the closure deadline, ensure full compliance of CO operations to IPSAS.
  •     In close liaison with CO Programme, ensure quarterly and annual reconciliations between LESS and COMET are completed.
  •     Provide input for the Annual Country Report and any other reporting cycle required.
  •     Regularly visit sub offices and field locations to ensure standard set of documents are used, their flow to data-entry stations is timely and standard Commodity Accounting procedures are followed by all throughout the country with feedback to Head of Supply Chain.
  •     Closely monitor sales of GCMF stock to the buying projects
  •     Provide information on stocks and resources availability through dashboards and reports to the Management and other Units.
  •     Build staff capacity on commodity management and the use of pipeline tools and provide guidance on the processes.
  •     Contribute with other related areas as required.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Completion of secondary school education. An advanced diploma in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, economics, and social science or a related functional area is required. A degree in the related functional area is an added advantage

Experience: At least seven (7) years of relevant professional work experience, out of which at least three (3) years of work experience directly in Supply Chain with past experience in the use of ERP systems are a strong advantage

Language:  Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is required
