About Wadata
The Wadata Activity, a 7-year, $50 million USAID/Bureau of Humanitarian Aid (BHA)-funded multi-sector Resilience and Food Security Activity (RFSA), aims to sustainably improve food security and food and nutritional security and resilience of extremely poor and vulnerable households in Zinder, Niger through stratified interventions targeting communities, households and individuals. Launched in October 2018, Wadata will continue until June 2025. To achieve its objective, Wadata is implementing activities in three integrated focus areas:
- Objective 1: Strengthening collective action to deal with shocks and stresses linked to food, nutritional and water security.
- Objective 2: Increased capacity, assets and agency for better access to adequate and diversified food at all times.
- Objective 3: Improvement of nutrition, health, hygiene and sanitation of pregnant and lactating women, adolescent girls, children under 5 years old and their families.
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Digital Archivist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for aiding the team in managing and organizing digital materials such as electronic records, photographs, videos and audio recordings according to established archival principles and practices to facilitate documentation, sharing and use of the of the successes and lessons learnt during the course of Wadata’s implementation.
The overall objective of this role is to aid and build the capacity of the Niger-based Kaizen Team to collect, manage, organize and facilitate access to digital records, documents and other electronic information. They will ensure that digital assets are stored, organized and maintained securely and in accordance with relevant standards and regulations and assist in the development of strategies for facilitating access to these digital records. The Digital Archivist will work in close collaboration with the Strategic Learning Lead and the Niger-based Kaizen Team and Wadata staff in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct activities of Niger-based Kaizen Team members who are responsible for collecting, arranging, and maintaining files and electronic programmatic information related to implementation of the Wadata project.
- Establish a plan for collecting relevant program documents.
- Review and add to the system (folders) used to organize digital records, archives, photos and videos in the organization’s archives (SharePoint)
- Sort, select and organize photo archives
- Prepare inventories, indexes, guides, and finding aids to help others access the information
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in archival studies, library science, information science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience managing digital archives and collections
- Proficiency in a range of digital repository software. Experience with SharePoint.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
