Background

The WBG consists of five specialized institutions: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The World Bank is organized into client-facing Regional Vice-Presidencies, several corporate functions and thirteen Global Practices to bring best-in-class knowledge and solutions to regional and country clients.

The World Bank is seeking to recruit a highly qualified candidate for the position of Driver/Messenger in the N’Djamena, Chad Office.

Duties and Accountabilities

The main purpose of the job is to provide professional driving services to the World bank Group. This is an office support role which contributes to the smooth running of the daily operations of the Country Office.

The duties and Responsibilities are as follows:

  •  On daily basis, deliver/Collect official letters, correspondences, invoices, and parcels, as needed ;
  •  Follow up visas request at embassies and tax exemptions documents at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and appropriate Ministry Department; Be able to process Check banks ;
  •  Maintain the assigned vehicle clean and in good condition, record mileage and gasoline consumption ;
  •  Operating the vehicle in a responsible and secure manner; ensure vehicle keys are appropriately maintained ;
  •  Able to prevent accidents with high consideration of other road users. Be ready to go on a mission trip ;
  •  Ensure passengers safety and capable of handling emergency situations ;
  •  Anticipate in any mechanic actions on the assigned vehicle to prevent any disruption due to unnecessary breakdowns. From the engine to the pneumatic conditions. For instance, daily inspection of air level in the wheels, oiling for breaks, water level, etc. In sum, assure that every single part of the vehicle is in good condition ;
  •  Any other administrative duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Country Management Unit.

Selection Criteria

  •  Must have at least the level of high school education or equivalent ;
  •  Five (05) years of professional driving experience in a multi-cultural environment with a safe driving record ;
  •  The candidate will possess a valid driving license in the sub-region, a driver license for 4×4 and minibus; a recent medical certificate of fitness proving that candidate is fit to drive ;
  •  Good knowledge of driving rules and regulations and be familiar with the Road Security Code ;
  •  The candidate must have good geographical knowledge of Chad and other countries in the sub region ;
  •  The candidate should have a positive attitude, be diligent, flexible, dressed presentably ;
  •  An experience working in an international institution would be an advantage ;
  •  Language Requirements: French (spoken and written) knowledge of English would be an asset ;
  •  Knowledge of computers – Windows environment, MS Office is an added.
