Research Associate – Monitoring and Evaluation The International Potato Center is seeking to recruit a highly qualified Research Associate- Monitoring and Evaluation.
Position : The Research Associate (Monitoring and Evaluation) will contribute to the Irish funded project on Root and Tuber Crops for Agricultural transformation in Malawi (RTC-Action Malawi). Under this project, CIP is promoting the development, production, utilization and marketing of improved potato, orange-fleshed sweetpotato and cassava varieties in Malawi. The Research Associate (Monitoring and Evaluation) will be based at Bvumbwe Research Station reporting to the Project Manager.
Key responsibilities :
- Develop appropriate forms to supervise data collection and prepare data entry program to effectively manage and archive information ;
- Design, implement and lead in project monitoring activities that will provide informative analyses of baseline and impact studies ;
- Assist in the design and implementation of monitoring systems with appropriate tools for various quantitative and qualitative components ;
- Perform data cleaning and data analysis of different socio-economic research embedded in the CIP projects ;
- Train staff in data entry, database management, monitoring and evaluation ;
- Conduct relevant data analyses to effectively interpret data and summarize results ;
- Actively participate in report writing, proposal preparation and brief/flyer writing as needed by different CIP research programs to most effectively communicate results ;
- Assist and support other CIP researchers in different sweetpotato related research ;
- Publish research articles and reports in collaboration with CIP staff and project research partners ;
- Assist in the organization and preparation for relevant technical meetings, including the preparation of presentations ;
- Carry out any other function assigned by the supervisor .
Selection Criteria :
- Masters in Agricultural Economics/Agribusiness/Economics or any other related field ;
- Minimum of 6 years hands on experience working in the field of M&E at senior management level ;
- Advance level in MS Office, Excel, Power Point, Access and Word, SPSS, Stata and CSPro data packages ;
- Fluency in English and excellent writing and editing skills with proven skills in writing project documents ;
- Experience in designing and managing M&E systems for a number of donor funded projects ;
- Strong data analytical skills and experience in managing large data base with the latest software ;
- Proven knowledge of the modern impact evaluation methodologies for agricultural projects ;
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision ;
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines .
