Job description :

The selected candidate will be required to take the lead role in the implementation of IFC advisory projects mapped to FIG AS in the 8 UMEOA countries.  Specifically, the candidate is required to perform the following tasks:

Technical skills :

  • Provide overall project management and leadership in implementation of FIG AS projects including – Coris Risk Management Framework, Togo-Burkina Risk Management Country Scoping, ABI RSF projects, and any other projects as needed; using tools and frameworks for successful project implementation ;
  • Coordinate with the program manager and leads on the budget planning and cost tracking ;
  • Communicate project capital and spend to ensure projects are within budget, and report on any variances and make necessary adjustments to ensure the projects deliver within budget envelope and timelines ;
  • Engage in strategic dialogue with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of projects ;
  • Help with monthly Portfolio reports and weekly statuses to effectively communicate relevant project information and highlight risks ;
  • Keep FIG AS lead abreast of activities and ensure overall strategic coherence of FIG AS work in countries where RM and RSF projects are implemented.

 Knowledge management :

  • In charge of donor reports and other project management related reports ;
  • Assist with Project Governance including PRM Process, Change Request/Management ;
  • Contribute to a framework for the establishment of a supportive program management structure for IFC FIG Advisory: Design and support the implementation of a central, supportive Project Management Office (PMO) to support IFC FIG Advisory projects. The PMO will act as a Center of Excellence for project management-related capacity building and access to appropriate tools and methodologies. The services and documents provided by the PMO will be demand-led ;
  • Integrate Project Management Institute and PRINCE2® methodologies into IFC FIG Advisory project design, planning and control: Identify appropriate Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) as well and PRINCE2® tools and methodologies to integrate to the enhanced practice of project management at IFC FIG Advisory. These tools and methodologies cover the full spectrum of project management knowledge areas, from scheduling and cost management, to stakeholder and communications management.

Business Development :

  • Proactively support the teams in business development efforts in the region and as requested to generate high value/high impact advisory engagements, in close coordination with investment and client relationship managers; Maintain a deep understanding of SME finance trends, actors and opportunities in the region; as requested.

  • A strategic thinker with an ability to see the “big picture” of country, regional and global private sector development challenges and proactively identify opportunities that can have sizeable reach ;
  • A hands-on approach and ability to directly work on projects and prepare presentations and reports with minimum supervision or support ;
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to work under time pressure, respond to ad-hoc shifts in client priorities, unstructured situations and unexpected events while maintaining order and delivery ;
  • Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions and challenge the status quo to build the business ;
  • A keen interest in strengthening banking services in emerging markets and an ability to work in a multicultural environment ;
  • Strong leadership skills and a good team player with an ability to work in multicultural environments ;
  • Excellent English and French, written and verbal communications skills ;
  • Understanding of Digital Financial Services and an ability to integrate this into solutions ;
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively at short notice and work across time zones.

 

Selection Criteria :

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience ;
  • Solid experience in Project / Program Management ;
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving ability, excellent interpersonal and communications skills, creativity and business insight, and project management skills ;
  • Excellent grasp and knowledge of industry best practices in the Program Management domain experience in conducting the Program Management function in large and matrixed organizations ;
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills and proven ability to guide and coordinate project development teams ;
  • Proficient in Data Analytics tools specifically, Tableau, PowerBI, MS Access, MS Excel ;
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle and project management methodologies is highly desired ;
  • Ability to learn modern technologies quickly, self-starter and motivated, and able to work with others, and communicate effectively ;
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills in operating collaboratively across organizational boundaries.

Note : The selected candidate will be offered a one-year appointment, renewable for an additional one year, at the discretion of the World Bank Group, and subject to a lifetime maximum ET Appointment of two years.
