Description :

The Associate will be responsible for providing technical support and coordination of the WEEE component in Senegal and specifically in the Dakar region. The postholder will be support implementation of the activities planned in the WEEE component of the project and ensure timely delivery of the outputs.

Purpose :

Reporting to the Senior Officer, of the Solid waste project the Associate will be supporting delivery of solid WEEE component of the project by providing technical and administrative support to ensure timely implementation of the activities under the WEEE component in accordance with the  approved work plan.

 

Engagement :

  • Coordinates the planning, implementation of the WEEE management component of the Project ;
  • Supports innovative opportunities for the project key stakeholders ‘engagement in the WEEE management value chain to achieve green city development strategy goals.

 

Delivery :

  • Identify and facilitate synergies between the WEEE component and the other components of the project;
  • Ensure information sharing and mobilization of all national key stakeholders involved in the WEEE sector
  • Coordinate draft briefing notes, technical documents, WEEE analysis reports, Power Point presentations, promotional materials and other documents required for internal or external use;
  • Support the identification and development of implementable WEEE recycling options, development scheme, tailored policy tools, and business models
  • Coordinate and support the design of all strategic, methodological, and technical documents to be produced as part of the WEEE component of the project, including the drafting of ToRs for the activities and studies to be carried out;
  • Coordinate and collate annual progress reports of the WEEE component and any other required reporting according to GGGI and donors procedures;
  • Research best practices for WEEE management;
  • Coordinate preparation of capacity building materials and support delivery of knowledge sharing workshops both internally and externally;
  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of activities to be carried out by the Project Coordination Unit;
  • Participate in project monitoring and evaluation missions, including final evaluation.

 

Requirements :

Qualifications :

  • An advanced university degree in Sanitary Engineering, Waste management, Environmental Sciences, Environment management, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or Community Development preferably with specialization in an area pertaining to sanitation (Undergraduate degree coupled with relevant substantial experience may be considered in lieu of advanced university degree) ;
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in waste management system development, preferably in the WEEE sector ;
  • Proven track record in international development project management including participatory planning, report writing and financial management ;
  • Proven track record and excellent knowledge of WEEE management standards ;
  • Familiarity with Green Growth and Senegal context with solid experiences dealing with government counterparts is an asset ;
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills ;
  • Good command of spoken and written French and English. Fluency in the local language is preferred.
