Job Summary :

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer will work closely with the IDDS TB Strategic Lead, Country Coordination team, project MEL team, the Diagnostic Lead, Regional Diagnostics Advisor, and in-country consultants to implement project monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities in Malawi. He or she will support development of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) plans for TB programs; support in the collection, validation, and analysis of project M&E data; and help design and coordinate learning agenda and operational research activities related to strengthening TB diagnostic capacity. The team will be supported by a TB Coordinator and a TB Diagnostic Specialist.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead and support activities to meet approved Malawi TB MEL plan and target setting ;
  • Coordinate the quarterly and annual reporting of TB M&E data for Malawi ;
  • Provide support to the TB Diagnostic Specialist to collect and analyze TB M&E data ;
  • Perform data validation and quality checks ;
  • Participate in quarterly data review meetings ;
  • Support with creating solutions for improved data visualization ;
  • Support data management including updating and maintaining databases ;
  • Review data sources and support determination of best options for data integrity ;
  • Conduct literature reviews, develop data collection tools, analyze data, and other tasks in support of learning and operations research activities ;
  • Support the documentation and presentation of project achievements, learning, and research results ;
  • Collaborate with IDDS HQ MEL team and help draft TB sections of quarterly and annual reports.

 

Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum bachelor’s in public health, international development, or related field. A master’s degree will be an added advantage ;
  • 2 years of experience implementing monitoring, evaluation, and learning for international health programs ;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data for decision making ;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) ;
  • Strong writing and verbal communication in English ;
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time ;
  • Authorization to work in Malawi.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with Global Laboratory Initiative standards ;
  • Familiarity with TB indicators ;
  • Familiarity with USG programs.
