Education

•  The typical educational background for a Subsurface Engineer is a bachelor or a master of science degree in Mechanical, Civil, and Petroleum Engineering. BAC +5 or plus

Experience

• Engineering experience in the oil and gas industry is a plus
• Experience as  Reservoir, Subsurface Engineer or Drilling engineer
• Broad background in general oil industry processes
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Use of well design applications including pump designs (ESPs and PCPs)

Skills/Knowkedge

• Subsurface Engineering Fundamentals: completions, workover, artificial lift
• Reservoir Surveillance
• Drilling engineering

Competencies

• Understand basic subsurface engineering: workover, completions, artificial lift technology, stimulations, etc.
• Able to work with the other job functions, such as Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering and Facilities Engineering in an asset level team
• Evaluating well production and diagnostic data to determine the need for well intervention.
• Making recommendations to solve technical challenges associated with a particular wellbore.
• Developing cost estimates and procedures on how to implement a well intervention (workover) program; detailing logistics needed to mobilize necessary materials and equipment to the location, the steps involved in completing the work and the risk and mitigating steps associated with completing the job.
• Presenting plans to management to obtain funding and endorsement to complete the work.
• Managing the work program including cost tracking, real time problem solving, managing change and communicating work status to the team and management.
• Support field operations in the evaluation of wellbore integrity, and ensure well design and activities are in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Language

Read, write and speak English especially as it applies to technical and business communication (TOEIC Level 5 minimum)
