We look to expand our biofuels trading business, transitioning to an integrated regional trading organization. To further capitalize on commercial insights, we are rapidly building our trading, origination & analytical capabilities to maximize the value of existing downstream assets, as well as secure access to accretive third party supply and logistics capabilities in the U.S. and Canada. We are looking for passionate individuals with an entrepreneurial mind-set to drive change in our business.

The Renewable Markets Trader will be responsible for developing and capturing profitable commercial and derivative trading opportunities supported by a world scale production and supply chain footprint in the U.S.and Canadian markets. In this role, you will combine your trading experience, industry relationships and analytical skills, working with suppliers and customers to manage risk across the entire value chain, including feedstocks, biofuels, and renewable credit markets.

You will have freedom to establish and build trading strategies and relationships with internal and external stakeholders, while supporting existing and new business initiatives. In this high visibility role, there will be significant engagement with management and the opportunity to influence the direction of the business. Based at the ExxonMobil Campus in Spring, TX, this role requires the development of strong relationships, not only internally with trading team members, coordinators at multiple U.S refineries, analysts and scheduler/operators but also externally with many trading counterparties, brokers and strategic partners

What role would you play within our team :

If successful, you will be an integral part of the Commercial Biofuels team, designing, developing and executing profitable trading opportunities around ExxonMobil’s downstream assets.

The key deliverables include :

  • Developing commercial strategies for optimal sales and purchases of biofuels and related products, for both internal system use and third party sale on a ‘for profit basis’  ;
  • Monitoring location, time and quality arbitrage opportunities for biofuels, renewable feedstock, and renewable credits, blending and trading to capture opportunities ;
  • Developing and managing renewable balances utilizing storage and other asset positions ;
  • Utilizing the futures and derivative markets for arbitrage capture as well as hedging / price exposure management and optimization ;
  • Ensuring all trading activities are conducted within appropriate authority limits, risk controls and internal trading guidelines ;
  • Accurate and timely trade capture, position matching, marking and commercial margin calculation / validation ;
  • Interface with other regional trading offices (e.g. EU, Canada, AP) on inter-regional arbitrage opportunities.

Who are we looking for :

The successful applicant should have broad trading experience of the U.S. domestic market and the ability to create and develop profitable opportunities, while identifying and managing the associated trading risks that these opportunities create.

To be eligible for this role, you must :

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field ;
  • Have a proven track record in trading in renewable feedstocks, biofuels, and / or renewable credit markets ;
  • Have a demonstrated capability to develop new business and trading opportunities ;
  • Have a strong working knowledge of financial derivatives and their direct application in these markets ;
  • Have strong analytical and communication skills ;
  • Have a demonstrated understanding of renewable value chain in the U.S. as well as federal and state level regulatory drivers  ;
  • Be a self-starting, team player with ability to multi-task in a dynamic, high-pressure team environment ;
  • Have the willingness to meet occasional after hours work needs and to travel on a limited basis.
