This is a 12 month, replacement role with unaccompanied terms based in Goz Beida with a salary of €28,198 – €31,332 and benefits
You will report to the Area Coordinator and work closely with Programmes Director, M&E Advisor, Base Manager, Programme Managers, Deputy PMs and Communication and Advocacy Assistant.
We would like you to start as soon as possible
Your purpose:
To support Country programme reporting and support M&E efforts; as well as proposals development initiatives in close collaboration with the Goz-Beida team and the Programmes Director. Liaising as needed with various Programme Managers to document cases studies. The post holder engages in collecting all other relevant information, working with the Communication and Advocacy Assistant; to support qualitative reporting, documentation and communication on programme. This includes engaging in the production of high quality communication materials.
You will be responsible for:
Programme Development, Reporting and Documentation
- Assist in the reporting process through compilation of various teams’ contribution and ensuring completeness of information required in close collaboration with relevant PMs.
- Assist team efforts in the production of programme proposals through research to gather relevant information to inform the process, check compliance with donor requirements and presentation formats.
- Assist the Communication and Advocacy Assistant and other programme team members in communication initiatives through the development of high quality case studies and the documentation of relevant aspects of the programme work; including organising photos and ensuring compliance with the ‘Dochas’ Code of Conduct on Images & Messages.
- Assist the Programmes Director, AC Goz Beida and Programme Managers, in obtaining relevant programme information and learning from other actors within the Sila region and further afield in Chad; to ensure that Concern Chad work is informed by wider experience, lessons learned and locally adapted best practice.
- File both hard and electronic copies of all relevant documents, including versions of reports/proposals/etc. ‘as sent to donor’ and/or received from Dublin.
- Contribute to all general aspects of the Programme drawing from own interest and expertise e.g. mainstreaming of equality, protection, and disaster risk reduction as needed.
Programme Quality
- Assist the CHS (Core Humanitarian Standard) focal point in Sila in rolling out the Accountability implementation plan.
- Support the implementation of the Equality Strategy for Chad Country Programme within the operational areas of work under the post holder’s responsibility, and contribute to the achievement of greater equality across all aspects of the overall programme.
- Actively support and participate in collective exercises such as preparation or updates of Preparing for Effective Emergency Response (PEER) plan, Security Management Plan (SMP) and other Concern initiatives.
- Support emergency responses when required including assessments, planning and reporting.
- Represent Concern at relevant coordination and other relevant meetings at local and national level as reasonably required.
- Collaborate on advocacy initiatives through provision of sound, reliable and evidence-based information based on thorough research.
Other:
- Be aware of, understand and comply with all of Concern’s policies and procedures (P4, finance, logistics, HR, security management etc.).
- Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be required by the line manager
Your skills and experience will include:
Essential:
- Relevant University Level Degree in Humanitarian Assistance, Development Management or other relevant discipline
- Demonstrated research and documentation skills
- Previous experience overseas with an international NGO and with similar responsibilities
- Excellent English writing and communication skills with substantial previous experience of research, documentation and/or report writing
- Fluency in French
- Good knowledge of Programme Cycle Management
- Understanding or knowledge of equality and accountability initiatives and standards (i.e. CHS, Sphere, etc.…)
- Ability to manage multiple job tasks
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team
- Devoted to and able to work as a team member
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload, using own initiative when appropriate
- Ability to cope with stress, work under pressure; often to strict deadlines
- Self-motivated, progressive and proactive
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Arabic
- Experience of working in Africa (or elsewhere under similar conditions) would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of donors (e.g. DFID, Irish Aid, ECHO, EU, UN)
- Good knowledge and competence of computer applications such as Microsoft Office
- Good team player, flexible and capable of working with a multinational country team, politically and culturally sensitive.
