Context :

In line with its plans to for growth and move to a single mainline fleet, Virgin Australia has acquired 25 Boeing 737-10 (Max10) aircraft. The first of these aircraft is due to roll out in March 2023.

Virgin Australia has a program of work across the organisation including procurement to ensure timely sourcing and delivery of all the necessary components in time and in line with the Group’s overall strategy.

The Senior Sourcing Specialist will work with key stakeholders across all Virgin Group as it relates to the delivery of the Max 10 aircraft. You will build an understanding of the program strategies, objectives and execution of procurement strategies. You will drive best in class procurement approaches to sourcing across all segments, focusing on delivering value for money from supplier arrangements as well as risk management and compliance with procurement procedures and professional best practice.

Your strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and negotiation skills will allow you to engage with internal stakeholders and external suppliers ensuring outcomes in line with program goals. Additionally, the Senior Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for advising and providing commercial leadership for their projects across the Program.

 

To be successful in this role you will have :

  • 10+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing, category management and procurement experience ;
  • Experience in a technical or manufactured product category would be useful (from manufacturing, automotive, transport, aerospace sectors) ;
  • Strong understanding of sourcing strategy development ;
  • Advanced influencing, communication, and negotiation skills ;
  • Ability to build effective business relationships and to influence stakeholders ;
  • Able to lead moderate to complex negotiations ;
  • Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
