About the role :

Deliver core IT Infrastructure hardware update to sites across Virgin Australia’s operating network. This is a 12-month fixed-term role as part of our Technology Infrastructure and Support team. Implement Cisco Meraki SD-WAN technology at all Virgin Australia airports and offices. Extensive travel around Australia is a role requirement.

 

Key responsibilities :

• Initial build/configuration of network hardware, including repackaging and labelling, prior to shipping to site ;
• Ensure all required hardware, peripherals and equipment including tools are available onsite to perform the installation ;
• Depending on the project schedule, travel over consecutive days and to multiple sites may be required ;
• Decommission and dispose of replaced infrastructure ;
• Maintain a clean and tidy site after removing packages ;
• Adhere to Virgin Australia cabling/rack standards ;
• Daily documentation ;
• Work with the project team to ensure a seamless deployment with minimal disruptions.

 

To be successful in the role you will have :

• Working experience in the installation of network hardware, including routers, switches, and wireless access points ;
• Previously worked with Infrastructure project delivery teams ;
• Proven skills in Network hardware installation and configuration ;
• Experience in Ethernet and fibre cable patching, testing, and troubleshooting ;
• Knowledge of communication rack systems including but not limited to, UPS and PDU ;
• Understanding of IT network architecture spanning routing and switching, wired and wireless ;
• Sound understanding of ITIL processes ;
• Cisco Meraki knowledge and experience ;
• Enterprise Data Centre experience ;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills ;
• Bachelor of Information Technology (Computer Science) ;
• Cisco Vendor certifications (beneficial) ;
• Airline experience (beneficial) ;
• Flexibility to travel extensively around Australia as required.
