We at VARA (Virgin Australia Regional Airlines) are one of Australia’s largest operators of fly-in fly-out charter aircraft. The Perth-based team is responsible for the safe planning and delivery of the airline’s flying operations and aircraft fleet maintenance.

The Manager, Safety & Business Support will work within the VARA division of the Group based in Perth. The role is a business-critical function reporting to the Head of Safety Systems and will provide data, risk and safety support to the organisation. The role will partner with other departments to champion risk-mitigation strategies and to deliver and maintain a safe operating environment for everyone.

Key Responsibilities :

Management of Safety Operations :

• Manage strategy development, implementation & reporting of safety performance indicators ;
• Review operational safety policies & objectives in line with the Group Strategy ;
• Deliver, report & review measurable targets for safety within the airline.

Risk & Data Analysis :

• Present risk-based data in innovative formats to influence management decisions ;
• Oversee & provide directions for predictive analysis on safety related risk ;
• Provide risk-management expertise across the organisation ;
• Responsible for the production of data packs for the airline’s safety governance structure.

Airline Publications & Compliance :

• Lead the Airline Publications Team to meet company strategy including all of the airlines manuals ;
• Monitor, assess & report compliance issues and engage with stakeholders ;
• Compliance oversight including compliance statement, approvals instruments & exemptions including engagement with CASA.

Security, Safety & Business Resilience :

• Ensure adherence to Virgin Australia Risk Management Framework ;
• Participate in improving safety, security, resilience and Health & Wellbeing.

What you need to be successful:

• Leadership / Management experience in a similar role ;
• Experience in implementing Management Systems ;
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate at all levels ;
• Ability to present complex issues in a condensed form ;
• Demonstrated ability in working collaboratively ;
• Ability to analyse data and provide accurate and reliable advice ;
• Knowledge of Aviation regulations.
