As the Customer Data Manager working within the Group’s Marketing Technology Centre of Excellence, you will be the custodian and champion of the Customer Data, supporting and training users, monitoring and reporting on performance, and liaising with technology partners to deliver a roadmap of data, audiences, events and connectors aligned to priority business use cases. You will be at the very heart of the digital marketing and the digital experience of Australia’s most-loved airline and its frequent flyer program.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Work within the CDP implementation project to define business requirements, make recommendations on data flows and integrations and assist implementation and testing and delivery of use cases, building a solid foundation for the CDP ;
  • Work with vendors, Digital Analytics, Data Platforms, Digital and Marketing teams to identify opportunities for improvement and optimisations based on the evolution of the CDP, the martech, data and digital landscapes ;
  • Work with stakeholders to define detailed requirements and lead the enablement of customer profiles, data-points, events and audiences in the CDP and movement of data between systems via CDP connectors ;
  • Monitor and report on day-to-day platform operation and performance, escalating and resolving issues with support teams ;
  • Maintain and make available a CDP roadmap and prioritised backlog of new data feeds, audiences, events, and connectors required to enable and support CDP use cases ;
  • Work within the CDP implementation project to define business requirements, make recommendations on data flows and integrations and assist implementation and testing and delivery of use cases, building a solid foundation for the CDP.

 

Key Skills Requirements :

  • Graduate qualification in marketing, digital, computer science or technology ;
  • Experience working with large customer and CRM databases ;
  • Working with data engineers on database infrastructure and data enablement ;
  • Experience defining, creating and activating audiences for marketing and via marketing platforms ;
  • Utiliisation of data to fuel personalised, dynamic and customer-centric digital marketing experiences ;
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as SAS and SQL ;
  • Possesses a self-starter attitude and ability to work without direct supervision ;
  • Problem-solving mindset with a track record of defining and delivering solutions and continuous improvement ;
  • Attention to detail and an ability to identify issues, risks, root causes, develop mitigations and identify and track actions to closure ;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present to a wide array of stakeholders across the business ;
  • Highly numerate and high level of data literacy ;
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skill ;
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and associated technologies ;
  • Knowledge of privacy regulation and governance.

 

Desirable Skills :

  • Industry relevant certifications in marketing, digital or technology ;
  • Hands-on experience with Tealium CDH platform or equivalent CDP/customer data management platforms (custom CDP solutions or SaaS CDP solutions such as Salesforce, Adobe AEP, Segment, Arm Treasure Data, BlueShift, SessionM, RedPoint) ;
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms such as Adobe Campaign, Salesforce Marketing Cloud ;
  • Experience using digital analytics tools (GA or Adobe Analytics) ;
  • Experience with tag management and digital data layers ;
  • Experience enabling offline data onboarding for digital marketing and personalisation ;
  • Experience working in an agile practice ;
  • Data science skillset derived from developing high-performance algorithms and predictive models ;
  • Statistical knowledge or background ;
  • Knowledge of Customer Data Platform best practice ;
  • Knowledge and understanding of loyalty programs ;
  • Knowledge of data governance principles ;
  • Data science.

The Marketing Technology Centre of Excellence leads the strategic direction and provides product ownership of Virgin Australia Group’s marketing technology assets and associated data and integrations. The team sits within Velocity’s Platforms and Personalisation function, supporting both Velocity’s digital marketing, personalisation and loyalty solutions, and digital marketing and personalisation across the Group.
