Duties and Responsibilities

Organizational Background

This consultancy position is based in the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in
Angola. The Resident Coordinator Office constitutes the primary support structure to the
Resident Coordinator (RC), the United Nations Country Team (UNCT). Led by the RC, the
RCO supports the UN coherent effort and a coordinated UN response to Angola´s development
priorities.

This consultancy is located in the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Angola. The incumbent reports directly to the RCO Peace and Development Advisor and secondary to the senior economist and is under the overall supervision of RCO Team Strategic Planning and Team Leader. This consultancy will produce results related to political & economic issues and analyses and UNSDCF processes, in support to activities related to the UN’s work in country, specifically initiatives of the RCO, the UN Country Team (UNCT) and the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO).

 

Specific Duties:

  1.  Research, draft and update the key political and economic updates
  2.  Follow and ensure administrative processes related to the implementation of the political related projects
  3.  Contributes to the management of the activities under the responsibility of Political and the Economic Advisor,
  4.  Identify, map and liaise with concerned CSO and partners, including women and youth CSOs and data producing institutions
  5.  Prepare the processes related to the UNSDCF development, the UNSDCF and development of the full CCA drafting process

 

 

Qualifications/special skills

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in international relations, political sciences, economic or social sciences is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

At least 2 years working experience in the field of development, coordination, and project management is required.
Knowledge of sustainable development issues is required
Other professional experiences within the UN System or a comparable international organization is desirable

 

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written English and Portuguese is required.
