REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

INDIVIDUAL GENDER CONSULTANT SPECIALIZED IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR THE WEST AFRICA REGION

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF AN INTERNATIONAL GENDER

CONSULTANT SPECIALIZING IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR THE GENDER, WOMEN AND CIVIL SOCIETY DEPARTMENT (AHGC)

 

  1. The African Development Bank (AFDB) hereby invites International Individual Consultants to express their interest as Gender Consultants specialized in Entrepreneurship for West Africa ;
  1. The services provided for this assignment include the following actions: (i) Collaborate with program and project managers to propose the categorization of projects within the framework of the Gender Marker System; (ii) Develop a strong pipeline of category 1 and 2 projects according to the GMS and technical assistance opportunities, using the Bank’s assessment tools and criteria, including the Lusophone Compact Guarantee; (iii) Participate in operational missions and the drafting of project documents to promote the implementation of the Bank’s Gender Strategy; (iv) Work with gender officers and project managers to develop innovative approaches on entrepreneurship for the integration of women into the development process and projects; (v) Act as a peer evaluator of projects to improve the quality of gender mainstreaming and approaches to women’s empowerment; (vi) Collaborate with Country Economists to contribute to Country Portfolio Reviews and Country Strategy Papers (CSPs) that are gender-sensitive and include women entrepreneurship initiatives; (vii) Participate in country and regional team meetings, to ensure that the gender dimension is taken into account; and (viii) Contribute to the activities of other departments in the field of gender and women’s empowerment, as needed ;
  1. The Gender, Women, and Civil Society Department (AHGC) invites Individual Consultants to apply to provide the services described above. Interested Individual Consultants must provide information on their capacity and experience demonstrating that they are qualified for the services (documentation, reference of similar services, experience in comparable assignments, etc.) ;
  1. The eligibility criteria, the establishment of the shortlist and the selection procedure will comply with the Rules and Procedures for the Use of Consultants for Projects Financed by the African Development Bank Window, 2008 edition revised in 2015, which are available on the Bank’s website at: http://www.afdb.org ;

It should be noted that the interest shown by an Individual Consultant does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include them on the shortlist ;

  1. The duration of the services is estimated at 6 months, renewable once and the start date is scheduled from the beginning of April 2022 ;
  1. Expressions of interest in English must be submitted to the address mentioned below or by e-mail, no later than March 28, 2022, at 5 p.m. GMT and expressly mention “Notice of call for applications for the recruitment of an individual Consultant for the West Africa Region” for the Gender, Women and Civil Society Department (AHGC)” ;
