  • Support the planning and management of events ;
  • Collaborate with the Head of Corporate Communications and Head of People Communications, as well as other departments in the organisation ;
  • Maintain the Communications Calendar to ensure key events and milestones are coordinated and proactively communicated ;
  • Help with planning content and developing messaging ;
  • Contribute to the VA Newsroom and media lists (through Telum) ;
  • Monitor the Public Affairs inbox and escalate enquiries ;
  • Monitor media and internal communications channels.

You’ll be great in this role if you :

  • Proven experience in Public Relations, Media or similar ;
  • Experience working with media (essential) ;
  • Must have a background working in an issues-rich, fast-paced environment ;
  • Proven abilities in creating and developing newsworthy content for media and owned channels ;
  • Strong knowledge of traditional and digital communications channels, including social media ;
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative ;
  • Excellent ability to build relationships ;
  • Multi-tasking and project management skills ;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills ;
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications or Journalism degree (beneficial).

  • Discounted Virgin Australia Lounge membership ;
  • Hospitality, retail, technology, beauty services and wellness discounts ;
  • Wellness support, including the betterme digital wellbeing platform ;
  • A comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, which offers confidential coaching and support from qualified professionals for all aspects of life – physical, mental, social and financial ;
