The Role :

Virgin Australia is seeking collaborative people manager coupled with a strong analytical background in Workforce planning to be part of our Workforce Planning leadership team.

As the Leader, you are responsible for the timely publication of major workgroup rosters. You will work closely with multiple areas of the business and are integral in maintaining the delicate balance of resources required across the airline groups to effectively and efficiently operate the flight schedule, leave planning, recruitment, budget, and reporting.

The position is based at our Brisbane Head Quarters in South Bank and, you will work closely with the Head of Workforce Planning for VA Operations, and Planning & Improvement Analysts.

As Leader, Workforce Planning you will be responsible for :

  • Maintaining a dynamic resource plan for Flight Crew & Cabin Crew ;
  • Timely publication of Flight & Cabin Crew rosters ;
  • Leading best productivity and operational effectiveness for Flight Crew & Cabin Crew by effective deployment of resources, including management of reserve & leave requirements ;
  • Ensuring optimal workforce planning and rostering outcomes are achieved for Flight & Cabin Crew and that these support performance, compliance, and budget requirements ;
  • Leading the development, implementation and refinement of rostering processes/standards and implementing/administering Resource Management System ;
  • Initiating/leading projects to improve productivity and leading these where appropriate, and ;
  • Supplier relationships including sourcing of new suppliers and driving effective integration into the business.

 

What you need to be successful :

  • Experience in the production of rosters for large workgroups ;
  • Experience leading and managing a team including use of coaching skills to develop team members ;
  • Experience in implementing large scale change – ideally involving technology systems ;
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating or driving improvements to process/policy/systems to improve performance ;
  • Experience in analysing pre and post roster production activities ;
  • Outstanding Microsoft excel skills ;
  • Ability to quickly establish and maintain effective relationships in a complex stakeholder environment ;
  • Knowledge of resource management systems (e.g. Sabre AirCrews) and optimisation systems (e.g. Kronos Altitude Pairing).
