Context :

The objective of the Business Transformation Analyst role is to provide proactive, accurate and timely analysis of the transformation data-set to identify trends in value realisation and leakage, program progress and slippage and process discipline to inform concise business action.  The ultimate goal is to provide the highest quality of analytical support to help the business in achieving its ambitious transformation agenda.

 

Key accountabilities :

  • Maintain a deep understanding of how the Virgin Australia transformation program operates and the data that is critical to successful management of the program ;
  • Use Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and other analytical tools to proactively interrogate and analyse program data to identify areas of risk, value leakage, data gaps, confirm program status and identify areas that require attention ;
  • Build actionable plans and work in partnership with the Transformation Managers to address concerns/issues identified ;
  • Develop and maintain the data governance framework (i.e. minimum requirements) for Virgin Australia’s transformation program, to be adhered to by the business ;
  • Establish and conduct routine audits of compliance with the data governance framework to identify deviations ;
  • Identify the need for and produce ad-hoc reporting based on inherent transformation program and data knowledge ;
  • Administer access for all users and oversee ongoing governance to ensure access is removed as people become inactive ;
  • Manage the administration of all settings within the tool, e.g. notifications, and provide recommendations to improve the usability of the tool that balances governance with user uptake ;
  • Liaise with relevant key stakeholders, e.g IT, Finance, Legal, in driving requirements and improvements  ;
  • Ensure agreed internal security protocols are upheld with respect to system access (in support of confidentiality) ;
  • Interface with Bain and Co. to initiate improvement to functionality to ensure the tool is improved to meet Virgin Australia’s needs ;
  • Establish a routine of and approach for training of new users, as well as targeted training for populations that would benefit from enhanced skills in one or more areas.

 

What we’re looking for :

  • Bachelors Degree in Data Science or equivalent ;
  • Experience interrogating and analysing large bodies of data to generate actionable insights ;
  • Experience generating and improving program-level value-centric reporting to provide meaningful management insight ;
  • Experience in the development and application of data governance frameworks ;
  • Experience working as part of transformation or PMO team under pressure to deliver material enterprise-level business results ;
  • Experience operating with ambiguity, at a fast-moving pace with constant changes in direction in pursuit of an overall objective (e.g. transformation) ;
  • Attention to detail with respect to interrogation of data quality and the generation of insightful reporting ;
  • Advanced Excel and PowerBI skills ;
  • Ability to use data insights to generate easily interpreted, impactful Microsoft PowerPoint presentations ;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral ;
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.

 

Desirable skills :

  • MBA ;
  • Aviation or travel industry experience ;
  • Specific experience operating as part of a business transformation team.
