Revenue Fraud Analyst

Brisbane (Virgin South Bank Head Office)

Full time with some flexibility to WFH up to 2 days per week

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

What you’ll be doing :

As a Revenue Fraud Analyst, you will be responsible for monitoring a variety of resources/ tools dedicated to identifying incidents of fraud. You will join a warm and cohesive team of five and will be offered extensive training across all fraud areas, as well as our airline specific internal systems (Sabre, etc.). Typically you will work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Responsibilities will include :

  • Responsible for the detection and prevention of fraud, protecting the business from losses whilst ensuring the safety of our guests ;
  • Investigate suspicious transactions flagged in our fraud monitoring tool, using your analytical skills to detect fraudulent activity ;
  • Examine attack patterns to identify emergent fraud trends and aid in the creation of counter measures to mitigate future loss for the business ;
  • Perform in-depth analysis of multiple data sources searching for possible unauthorised credit card use and any other frauds committed against the business ;
  • Prevent travel where possible on fraudulent booking ;
  • Work to ensure Chargebacks raised against VA are kept to acceptable levels ;
  • Conduct and share regular trend analysis to ensure the team are targeting the latest fraudulent behaviour ;
  • Maintain effective and regular written and verbal communication with several internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to customers, Customer Services, Operations, Police, Fraud System Supplier, Banks, other airlines and potential fraudsters ;
  • Provide documentation when requested by Law Enforcement agencies to support the apprehension of guests travelling on stolen credit cards ;
  • Raise ADM for Chargebacks received from GDS bookings ;
  • Co-ordinating priorities and identifying suspicious bookings using the available tools, without upsetting genuine guests or placing genuine revenue at risk.

Who we’re looking for :

  • Previous experience identifying fraud (or experience working in an airline setting, dealing with complex situations) ;
  • Airline experience is highly desirable, however, we will consider experienced Fraud Analysts from other industries ;
  • Very strong analytical skills and high attention to detail ;
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal ;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and unquestionable integrity ;
  • Intermediate level in Excel/Word. Knowledge of Sabre GDS is desirable, but not essential ;
  • Knowledge of airline fares & ticketing is desirable, but not essential.

What you’ll get from us :

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to) :

  • Extensive training across all areas of fraud. Also comprehensive training on Sabre and other airline specific systems ;
  • A warm a cohesive team environment (the current team size is 5) ;
  • Heavily discounted air travel for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year) ;
  • Flexible working arrangements (typically you will work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home) ;
  • Discounts on travel insurance, car hire, accommodation and experiences worldwide ;
  • Discounted Virgin Australia Lounge membership ;
  • Hospitality, retail, technology, beauty services and wellness discounts ;
  • Wellness support, including the betterme digital wellbeing platform.

Equality rules :

We’re all individuals. We love that. That’s why we encourage applications from Indigenous Australians, people with disability, those from diverse cultural backgrounds, our friends in the LGBTQI+ community, and anyone else who wants to join our family.

COVID-19 :

The safety and security of our people, guests and operations come first. Always. That’s why we’ve put together a comprehensive ‘Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy’. In a nutshell, to work with us, you’ll need to comply with our (and the airport’s) rules and regulations. And be fully vaxxed.
