Job Description :

To serve as the lead role in implementing all project activities at the district and community levels on hand hygiene solutions/innovation. The WASH Officers (WO) will be responsible for ensuring high quality, result-oriented program implementation and timely achievement of project milestones and objectives in each district. The WOs will play a key role in establishing and maintaining good working relationships at the community and district levels.

 

Major Responsibilities :

  • Facilitates that the project activities are implemented timely, efficiently and effectively to meet project objectives and standards ;
  • Prepare and use appropriate project specific Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and training material for WASH clubs in schools ;
  • Develop all necessary monitoring and supervision tools used for project implementation ;
  • Liaise with relevant partners and stakeholders both at districts and national level and other community based agencies for the successful implementation of WASH project activities ;
  • Supervise the activities of service provider’s/hand hygiene innovators to deliver the expected results ;
  • Enforce stewardship by ensuring efficient and effective utilization of project resources for the intended purpose.

 

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Change, Environmental Health, Public Health, Water Resources Management or any other relevant ;
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in implementing rural water supply and sanitation projects ;
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating training, mentorship and capacity building of community leaders ;
  • Experience in coordinating trainings, community activities and logistics at the field level ;
  • Knowledge of UNICEF reporting requirements including familiarity with the data collection and reporting tools and added advantage ;
  • Direct experience in implementing WASH programming would be an added advantage.

Working Environment / Conditions :

  • 70% Field work  ;
  • 30% Office-based.

REMUNERATION : Competitive with market standards.
