Job Description :
Project Coordinator : Health & Nutrition
The Role :
The Project Coordinator will lead the technical aspects of the project ensuring effectiveness of routine work in health facilities supported by this project. S/he will be responsible for establishing systems and ensuring that all project activities are implemented according to technical qualities, Ministry of Health policies and World Health Organization standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the project technical work ;
- Establish and implement systems for technical supervision, management, and quality improvement ;
- Ensure essential health services are being implemented according to technical guidelines ;
- Establish a functioning coordination center that will allow partners to meet regularly and work together to ensure adequate surveillance and immunization response ;
- Ensure that all children under 15 years old crossing in the border districts are identified, screened for Acute Flaccid paralysis (AFP), and adequately vaccinated ;
- Strengthened and expanded cross-border community-based surveillance through the community mobilizers and Transit Point Vaccinations (TPVs) teams ;
- Coordinate with partners and community to increase uptake of immunizations (routine and SIA-given) in inaccessible areas (polio plus: IPV, bOPV, measles) through cross program integration ;
- Work with operation and technical teams to put measures in place to increased access to hard to reach and inaccessible communities and provision of immunization, SIAs, and periodic intensified immunization ;
- Ensure all Ministry of Health (MOH) policies and procedures are implemented ;
- Oversee training of health professionals ;
- Oversee efforts to improve health service coverage and utilization including community engagement.
Essential :
- Bachelors’ degree in Public Health, Medicine, or Nursing ;
- A minimum of five-years working experience in managing health service delivery projects, preferably in fragile contexts with focus on child health/Immunization ;
- Training in project management, planning, M&E and report writing ;
- Training in RH, EPI, TB, Nutrition, IMCI, IDSR and HMIS ;
- Demonstrated experience in health service quality improvement ;
- Demonstrated experience improving health service coverage and utilization in fragile contexts ;
- Experience with tools and systems to improve health service delivery and quality ;
- Demonstrated experience managing health service provider training ;
- Experience working with Governments and partners in fragile contexts. Experience working with Somalia Government at the Federal and State levels is preferable ;
- Experience with capacity development, preferably in the health sector.
Working Environment : The position will be based in Kismayo, Jubaland State with regular travel to other field locations for donor and stakeholders’ engagements.
