  1. The African Development Bank now invites Individual Consultants to express their interest for the following Assignment: Consultant – Translator (English to French).
  1. The consultant will report to the Knowledge and Research Manager. S/He will assist the MFW4A Secretariat in translating (from English to French), and revising material produced by staff, based on the Secretariat’s requirements. The Consultant will also provide guidance on language matters and propose improvements on the translation process. Specifically, his/her functions and responsibilities are, but not limited to:
  • Translate from English into French MFW4A documents submitted including annual and interim reports, information notes, blog articles, thematic and country profiles, etc.
  • Revise the translated document to ensure consistency of style and terminology in the final product;
  • Conduct necessary research for each document being translated in order to ensure that the meaning is interpreted correctly and in full, and that appropriate specialized terminology is employed;
  • Research points of terminology, language and subject matter and revise the report for accuracy, appropriateness of language and style, clarity, etc.,
  • Revise his own translation to ensure that it is accurate, complete and stylistically appropriate when sent back to the Secretariat.
  1. The Making Finance Work for Africa Partnership invites Individual Consultants to submit their interest in providing the services described above. Interested Individual Consultants must provide information on their capacity and experience indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (Resume, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.).
  1. Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants”, for projects financed under the African Development Bank window, May 2008 edition, revised in July 2012 which is available on the Bank’s website at (http://www.afdb.org). The Bank is under no obligation to shortlist any consultant who expresses interest.
  1. The duration of the mission is 132 non-consecutive working days over 12 months period, with a tentative commencement date on February 18th, 2019. The consultancy is home-based.

  1. Expressions of interest must be delivered by email to the address below by January 31st, 2019 at 17.00 local hours, and mention “MFW4A Senior Communications Officer”.
