INDIVIDUAL JUNIOR CONSULTANT
- Introduction :
The main objective of the Junior Consultant’s assignment is to support the teams in the Agriculture Research, Production and Sustainability (AHAI.2) Division. He/she will specifically provide support to operations related to the Technologies for African Agriculture Transformation (TAAT) and Digital Solutions for African Agriculture, among other AHAI flagships. The Consultant will be expected to prepare actions plan for the development of roadmaps for seed systems development and strengthening as committed to by seventeen (17) regional member countries, support portfolio design and management in the delivery of Department’s programs and projects. He/she will support a resource mobilization drive for in country programs/projects.
- The services to be provided under the Assignment include :
The Junior Consultant will support the Agriculture and Agro-industry department (AHAI), to :
- Support AHAI in the implementation of its key Flagships, including but not limited to: Technologies for African Agriculture Transformation (TAAT) and Digital Solutions for African Agriculture, through improving the design of the concept and assisting the Bank’s RMCs to develop the roadmaps for their seed systems under the above-mentioned flagships as need be. This activity will be carried out in close collaboration with the Commodity Compacts ;
- Support the delivery of lending projects from identification, preparation, appraisal and launching; leading to project effectiveness to mainstream nutrition, technology transfer, employment and addressing policy bottlenecks ;
- Support the activities related to resource mobilization including project proposal writing and review for Trust Funds ;
- Support the Department and Division resource mobilization through concept logistics support in organizing meetings and workshops regarding notes as well as identifying viable partners and ;
- Support the economic and sector work (ESW) and studies of the Department; leading to pipeline build-up.
- The Agriculture Research, Production and Sustainability (AHAI.2) Division : invites junior consultants to indicate their interest in providing the above-described services. Interested consultants shall provide the following information: (i) documents; and (ii) Curriculum Vitae (see Model CV below) with reference to similar services, experience in similar assignments, etc. on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to undertake this Assignment. Candidates must preferably have i) a Master’s degree or equivalent in Agricultural science, Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, or a related field and ii) at least 2 years and a maximum of 4 years of relevant work experience (including professional internships) ;
- The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedure shall be in conformity with the African Development Bank’s Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations, approved by the Bank’s Boards on 14 October 2015, and available on the Bank Website at http://www.afdb.org. Please, note that interest expressed by a Firm does not imply any obligation on the part of the Grant Recipient to include it in the shortlist. The following criteria shall be utilized :

- The estimated duration of services is six (6), months, and the estimated starting date is 1 July 2021. The Consultant is expected to be based at the Bank’s Headquarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire for the duration of the contract if the situation of the COVID-19 permits. Otherwise, the Consultant can work from his/her present location ;
