How can you make a difference?

The Human Resources Manager is accountable for implementing Human Resources services that enhance the capacity of clients to deliver on their business goals and objectives. In doing so, the Human Resources Manager demonstrates the ability to anticipate Human Resources-related needs and develop subsequent plans and solutions that align Human Resources management with business objectives of the Organization.

 

Key accountabilities include the following :

  • Supporting the Deputy Representative Operations in establishing the annual work plan, setting priorities, monitoring work progress and ensuring results are achieved according to schedule and set standards ;
  • Providing technical leadership, reviewing and supervising the work of the HR team and strengthening capacity to enable the team to perform their functions efficiently ;
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring the interpretation and application of new human resources policies, practices and procedures to meet the evolving needs of the organization ;
  • Acting as a trusted partner to managers and staff and providing advice pertaining to all aspects of the employment life cycle ;
  • Partnering with managers and staff to embed UNICEF values of ethics, integrity, transparency, and fairness in the Office culture ;
  • Proactively advising clients on the resolution of human resources issues, ensuring equitable and transparent solutions that protect both the staff and organization’s interests in accordance with policies, regulations, and procedures ;
  • Liaising with the HQ Divisions, regional and country offices to support and contribute to corporate HR strategy formulation and global implementation, providing feedback and making recommendations on the establishment and improvement of HR systems, policies and processes ;
  • Keeping abreast, researching, benchmarking, and implementing best, and cutting-edge practices in HR management ;
  • Responsible for strategic human resources forecasting for his/her clients including identifying future human resource requirements in terms of numbers, types and levels of staff, and identifying emerging trends in profile requirements and helping design optimal organizational and staffing structures ;
  • In collaboration with business owners, designing and delivering learning plans for staff to enhance their knowledge and build skills in new areas and to contribute effectively to business goals ;
  • Providing day-to-day performance and talent management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, career conversations, etc.) ;
  • Promoting the organizational goals and targets for gender equity and cultural diversity ;
  • Using data analysis to help inform strategic decision making on HR processes and strategies ;
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to support emergency preparedness and response, when applicable ;
  • Contribute to the implementation of UN HR BOS process.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An Advanced University Degree in human resource management, business management, international relations, psychology or another related field is required ;
  • Eight years of professional experience in human resource management in an international organization and/or large corporation is required ;
  • Experience in designing and implementing targeted and innovative human resources strategies to address clients’ people-related needs is an asset ;
  • Experience working in a developing country is an asset ;
  • Familiarity/ background with emergency is required ;
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
